We will be picking up a car at MCo and be dropping it off at TPA. We will have it for 3 days. Can anyone suggest rental companies or how to try to do the rental? It will be a Friday pickup and a Monday drop off.

We do this every year. It is much cheaper to pickup at Tpa and drop at Mco . This yr we are paying about 450. For minivan on April break . This is the most we have had to pay. I watch the rates several times a day. Budget is cheapest so far

Most major rent a car companies don't charge a drop charge for dropping in the tourist areas. Tampa, Orlando and sanford are usually free drops.

Your rate will be dependant on the demand and volume at the rental location.

I am pleasantly surprised to see rates less expensive for our May dates to drop car @ TPA.

Try National and Alamo! I got a great rate for Easter week picking up at TPA and dropping off at MCO. Like others have said, it really depends on demand for your dates and type of vehicle needed. Also, I find I get the absolute best prices about 6 weeks out from my date of travel. However, I always make a reservation up to 6 months in advance and just modify when I find the lower rate. It is a game...but if you're willing to check your rates at least once a week, you can usually win! :)

Yes, I agree. It will probably get cheaper then the advertised rates now.

We have done this a couple times and will again in a couple of weeks. Flying into MCO and out of TPA. I rented through Costco's sight and it will be $169 for 8 days (intermediate size). I also like the security lines much, much better at TPA airport (at least as of 3 yrs ago). I booked it a couple months ago and kept rechecking and got down to this rate. Currently the same dates/car is $393. Also, in our case, my airfair was less flying MCO/TPA
