Car Rentals in May

My dates are Monday May 2 pick up @ 11:AM and drop off on Saturday May 14th noon. I've been having the best luck with 5007160 and the $35 coupon ND8578adt. But I'm using the entertainment $40 coupon for a 10 day or greater rental. It might be because I'm picking up early in May because I tried my DD who is picking up on May 7th and hers is still high. Though now she doesn't need a rental.

Ok...just to confirm...you used 5007160 with National and coupon ND8578adt for a minivan and you got $277 total for almost 2 Weeks??!!! My dates are May 3-10th and I'm getting $443 total for a minivan!! Is yours at MCO or somewhere else??

It's at MCO. It might be because my rental is more than 10 days. Sometimes in the past, the rentals were cheaper if you had it longer. Or maybe there was an excess of minivans on that Monday. Here's the info from my confirmation:

Try making your rental over 7 days - eg. 7 days and one hour, I think a half hour will work too. I get a total of $164.29 including taxes & fees:

:yay:OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!:worship:

I got it to work. You are right, making it even just a half hour longer than exactly 7 days drops the rate drastically. I was booked for a 7 seater SUV at $242 but we really prefer a minivan. This is now significantly cheaper, we get a minivan and don't half to settle and I prefer to deal with National as I'm already an Emerald Club Member.

The only question I have is what happens if you return it before the end of 7 days and 30 minutes? Will they change the rate like they do if you get a weekly rate and return if before the week is up? My flight arrives at 2:30 and our flight out is at 3:00 which are times I booked but obviously I will pick it up later and drop it off earlier than the booked times.

Thanks again!!

My rate, with Alamo, for a compact dropped yesterday to $170.85 for 8 days in May. Still more than I wanted to pay but better than it was when I booked back in Feb. Today I was able to book a mid-size with them for $170.53! My dates are 5/20-5/28.

Using Alamo Insiders $40 off weekly rental coupon, that has been extended, I have now brought down the total to $158.83.

OOOH - thanks for posting this....this just saved me $15 off what I thought was already a great deal!

OMG, that is great news. Glad it worked out. I can't imagine not having the disboards in my life. Would you have ever thought that adding a little extra time would generate a great deal like this! I thought my deal was because of the longer rental.

I'm picking up on ... May 7! Oh well, I'll keep checking.

Thanks!

Although, I did use your combination and it has been the best so far, thanks for sharing! May 7-15 for $184!! Exec Aisle Res

Thank you!

What time are you picking up? I found this strange thing this morning when checking for my DD for a May 7th pickup. IF she picks up at noon the rates are high, but if she picks up at 11:30 the rates drop. So try making your pick up on the half hour. The minivan offer only came up if I put in 11:30, but not noon....strange.

Hey everyone. I checked rates today for a minivan through Budget (BCD:X474200 Coupon:MUGZ001) from April 27th through May 5th, a little over a week, and got a rate including fees and taxes for $359.41 total.

HOpe it helps someone. Its the cheapest I have found so far but will keep checking!!!

I don't know about that. The hotwire booking I made, 9 days beginning 5/7 for a standard size, is now $312 - I paid $202 a few weeks ago.

Hate to say I told you so but I'm at $131.55 with 3 weeks to go.

I have a ressie that I booked a few months ago for $200 through Alamo for May 5th-14th midsize. I check rates every few days and they are finally coming down, but still right around $200. I hope they keep coming down:) Last year same time I paid $160 and am hoping for it again. Keep me posted if yours goes down

what codes/coupons are you using? I have a 3 day (weekend) full size reservation with Alamo and it's currently holding at $115. It hasn't moved for a few weeks. I only need the car for 3 days, but I'd be willing to rent for a week if I can get a good price

I signed up as an Insider which automatically inserts an ID then I used the $40 off code from mousesavers (AD4027JDO). I'm 100% sure I'll get this rate lower by the time I leave. It's really the same every time I travel to MCO where I book a car as soon as get my flights set and then a month out I adjust the reservation every couple of days until I leave. I find prices tend to dip on Saturdays for whatever reason so don't forget to check on the weekends. Stay tuned.

thanks...this rate put me at $189 for a week + 1 day for a full size. I'll keep checking as our trip gets closer....5 weeks to go!

I got a minivan at mco for $190 for 1wk plus 1day with national using NCRLESS and $35 off coupon for May!:)

ChisJo: what codes are you using?
I have 7015144 for corp. ID and cpn code AD4027JDO

It is crazy that we have the same amount of days and yours is $20 cheaper??? I wonder if mine is more because I am dropping off at a different airport?? Not sure why that would change anything???

I'm using the Costco id and the alamo insiders $40 off coupon. I used a whole bunch of different codes, and they were all about the same - give or take a couple of dollars. I would assume yours is a little more because you are returning it to a different airport.
