Okay I'm being really lazy, but I know someone must know this -
Which car rental companies have the cars at the airport, ie no shuttle ride to pick up car? I'm not much into riding the shuttle - too anxious to get to the World!!

Thanks everyone

Hertz is a shuttle ride away but the bus is always there. I am driving out of the lot in less than 10 mins. I found them faster than National.

Its hard to be faster then National's Emerald Club Program!

I have never waited more than 10 minutes at the exit with National, but I can see where it could happen. Even when there was a snafu with my ressie, I was still on the road quickly.

Traffic on 436 etc. and the availability of a shuttle to the off site rental agencies can increase or decrease wait time. In either case, unless you have to wait in a long line at the counter, your time at any rental company will usually be minimal.

In all my many rentals with Hertz I have never had to wait for a shuttle. We usually pulled out within a minute, and yes I timed it. I know this subject gets debated here on the DIS so I wanted to be able to post accurate information.

Next time Im in Orlando, Im gonna give Hertz a try. Had rented from Hertz about a year ago in Ft Myers and was extremly disapointed (Long line at 12 am!, Smelly and Crappy car, etc.)

We rented this time from Alamo. It was a smooth and very pleasant procedure. There was no waiting at all - actually there was a huge line at Magical Express line.

I would definately rent from Alamo again

Be sure to sign up for #1 Express with Hertz. First time you will have to stop at counter and sign but then you bypass the counter.

I like Hertz better, but that could be because I am a perferred renter with them so I always get upgraded to nice cars in Orlando. (Last time it was a very fancy Caddy!)

National would be my second choice, followed by Dollar. I think I would walk to Disney before I rented from Alamo. I had one of the great all time horror experiences with an Alamo rental and don't intend to give them a second chance. (And yes, I know National and Alamo are the same but so far the EA has kept me using National)

I also don't like L&M. The insurance push was just way too much for me and they admitted to me that "car sizes are changed based on demand" so at Presidents Day weekend a COrrolla was FULL SIZE.. I walked to Hertz.

I have yet to try them, but have heard everywhere that insurance sales is way to pushy. Corolla is barely a compact let alone a full size!

I did not want to give L&M my insurance card. I have primary coverage via Diner's Club... I just did not think they needed that info and without it they wouldn't let me waive the insurance. So I walked.

If I wreck the rental I want Diners to be primary. I don't ever want it to hit my personal insurance.
