Yes, that's right a car rental post in the DCL Forum. The reason is because I'm thinking about doing a land/sea trip (the land portion would be using our DVC points) and I noticed that the transfer fee for us would be close to $150.00 for the round trip to Port Canaveral and back to the airport. First I wouldn't be leaving to go to port Canaveral from MCO, I'd be leaving from WDW, so having to go to the airport isn't desirable for me. Secondly I can rent a car for a lot less than $75.00/day. Here's my question, is it possible to rent a car at MCO, turn it in at Port Canaveral and then after we disemark rent another, or possibly the same car and turn it in at MCO? We won't be going straight to MCO, but will spend 2 nights at one of the Uni hotels after the cruise.

Car rental questions are quite common on this board for the reasons you mentioned....many folks do two one-way rentals for their cruise trip. If you scroll down through the threads I am sure you will find one or two right away!

We always book from Budget or Avis because they both have locations very near the ship and provide shuttle service. National and Hertz also have locations but they are farther away.

First you should check out the link below....it has tons of car rental info to help you decide. We usually check both Avis and budget and rent with the one that it cheapest at the time. We pick up a car at MCO and drop it off the morning of the cruise at the cocoa beach location...then when we get off the ship we pick up a car at the cocoa beach location and drop it off at the airport when we are ready to leave.

Another option would be to keep the car the whole time you are cruising but then you would have to pay $10.00 to park at the port.

Still another option is to do a one way limo service from WDW to the port and then pick up a rental car from the port back to MCO at the end of your cruise.

Another good site for rental info is

Small clarification...The fee to park at the port is $10 PER DAY. So $30 if you are on the 3-day, $40 on the 4 day.

Yes, you are 100%....I omitted the "per day" part...thanks!!! Sometimes my fingers can't keep up with my brain!!!

After much consideration we decided to rent a vehicle for the entire time. We are getting a van and the cost of the rental plus the parking is going to be about 40 dollars more than changing cars. For us, the 40 bucks (which we could save by leaving the car at the Radisson, but we don't want to take the shuttle) is worth it for the lack of hassle and waste of precious vacation time (not to mention multiple deposits putting a hold on our credit card resources)
I think this post now qualifies as TMI (too much information!)

That's what we are doing too. We are on the four-day Wonder in February. We will arrive the day before and stay at AKL at WDW. Instead of fussing with one-ways, we are just going to rent the car, park it at the port and pick it up when we get off the ship. We will then return the car at MCO. It just seems a lot easier to me and the cost isn't that much different. I'm spending so much anyway, it just seems worth it to keep the car.

We are doing a 3 day Wonder cruise in January but are going to be in Florida for 9 days....I priced it out every way possible and it is actually cheaper for us to keep the car and pay the $30 parking at the port. I also want the added convenience of just hopping in our car after we get off the ship.

I kept checking my rental online (by pricing a new quote) and it actually went down in price a few times...started out at over $300 and is now down to $212.00 including taxes for an SUV. I keep finding different coupons and codes and always try them at the online site and was able to save quite a bit. Since we are keeping the car and not turning it in or p/u at the port I was able to go with Alamo and their prices were better than Avis/Budget this time.

Could you please share some of the places you found discount codes??

We are doing almost the same thing as you:

MCO > Disney > Cruise > Disney > Mco

I would really appreciate any feedback on discount codes.

Thanks,
Pam

check either betterbidding.com, or biddingfortravel.com

One of them lists rental car discount codes.

Entertainment books have coupons in them also. I can give u codes, but they would only provide the entertainment discount, and u would still need an actual coupon for an additional day, or percentage off.

I found codes at www.mousesavers.com under rental car section. She had codes listed for the various rental companies. i cannot quite remember what codes used along the way but I finally ended up signing up for a 2005
Entertainment Book and even before it came in the mail I was able to use a coupon they offered at the www.Entertainment.com site that gave us another $25.00 off. There was a link to Alamo reservations from the Entertainment Book site after I purchased the book online. The E book costs me $22.00 and I saved $25.00 on the rental and there are tons of other coupons in the book that I will use this year so I am ahead of the game.
