I'm looking about for cheap car rental and so far Holiday Autos seems to be the cheapest. Anyone used them? It also doesn't seem to say who exactly i'll be getting the car from, does it not tell you till after you've booked?

We have used them a good few time through Ireland but been a few years since I booked with them we always got dollar but my husband's friend was an agent for them so we always got told who it was with before we booked. But as far as I remember it told us also in the email after booking never had a problem with them

Cheers, just going to book with USrentacar as its only £5.50 more and at least I know who i'm booking with then.

Have you booked Claire?

I know a way of possibly lowering cost of Holiday Autos prices.

Give me details(car size, cost, dates) I will have a look see what I can see.

Used them myself no problem, almost certain it was Alamo but I am at work so can't check. They are part of lastminute.com

Yeah I did Wayne, with USrentacar, I only paid a deposit but don't think I can cancel. I'm too impatient!!!

I am totally the opposite to you, I can never hit the buy button, always think a better deal will come up. :rotfl2:
I have booked our main car for 18 nights (although that took me almost 6 months from starting to look) but still have to book the other 6 nights, check every day, I will book eventually:goodvibes

USrentacar is 10% off Dollar at the moment.

I know but they are still more expensive(£156) for me than AutoEurope with 7% Quidco(£149) but no hassle of cashback if I used USrentacar, I will decide before the offer expires on Monday.

Wayne, are there any good prices to get after you have arrived at WDW? I prefer to pick up the day after we arrive and usually end up with Alamo from the Disney car care centre. What sort of price do you think I could get a compact car for from Oct 17 at WDW to drop off Oct 30 at the airport? I'm not signed on to quidco or anyone like that at the moment.

If you collect from the Car Care centre you are stuck with Alamo.

There are other locations around Disney like the first hotel straight opposite DTD, they have a Dollar office in there. US rentacar have intermediate cheaper than Compact at £234.16, same car with Alamo would be £280.23.

Just remember if you collect before your return time they will charge you an extra day, making it a 14 day rental.

Hi,

Not sure where we came across the last link we used for car hire but we had used it for a rental a few weeks ago and got what we thought was a good deal, so thanks to the person who posted it.

We hired for 16-days through Holiday Auto's a Mid-Size SUV for £299.98, (£18.75 a day) it was for one driver and we only had to pay Alamo for a full tank of fuel upon our return to the airport.

When we arrived at Orlando International the Alamo agent offered us an upgrade to a large SUV for somewhere in the region of $70.00 and not sure if that was per week as we declined right away.

Well, when we walked over to the Alamo parking lot we were told by another agent that we can choose any in this row; we could only see 4-SUV's, the first 3 were Mid-Size and last one was a Dodge Durango Crew, 7-seater so guess what we choose the Durango, a very large SUV.

The reason why the Durango was in the Mid-Size row was that Alamo was running low on Mid-Size SUV's. So we didn't have to pay for this upgrade and the only extra charge was for the petrol on our return.

We were quoted approximately $74.00 for the petrol for the Mid-Size SUV and when we returned we were charged $104.41, the Durango holds about 24 US gallons. ($89.13 for petrol, $8.91 Airport Access Fee and £6.37 for the Sales Tax)

So if anyones comparing prices, check out the link below and if it's cheaper than your best quote then please post a reply for others to check out.

And thanks again to the person or web-site who supplied the following link.

Probably me I keep quoting it, I think the last time was this thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2865641

Did you follow the intructions and get cashback also?

The $70 quote was per day and then tax ontop.
When I rented thru them they offered me an "upgrade" told me they only had a very limited choice, a very poor selection available so he advised me to upgrade to a Chevy Tahoe. This was exactly the size we ordered, no upgrade as far as I was concerned and he wanted $40 +tax per day. I refused, he punched a few keys on the keyboard and said "Wow, it is offering you the bst rate I have ever seen for this car $17.99/day" I refused. Got paperwork and went out to choose car, he was right, only choice of 2 cars, one was a Chevy Tahoe he just tried getting £40/day for.

If you are booking a late rental they are often a good price but book in advance and they are often expensive. For our next rental they are quoting £ 675.50 yet I have booked elsewhere for under £500.
I have another car to book so will check their latest prices for that.

Yes, that was the thread Wayne, so many, many thanks.

And yes, we did booked via Quidco and hopefully will get an £18.00 refund, it's currently showing as 'Outstanding in tracked' so not yet confirmed.

Fingers crossed.

When you get to the rental counter you know your going to get asked the same old question and you do feel sorry for those on their first trip and who do need to upgrade because the car they ordered is too small for their party & luggage and then they get stung for the daily upgrade charge.

In almost all cases they could have upgraded to the next size over here for just a few pounds more.

So beware first timers traveling with a family, don't just rely on the capacity guides on the car hire sites, do some more homework.

Cheers again Wayne for the info.

Regards Samaya
