Hi all,

I've seen lots of posts here about people renting cars for rediculously low prices like $100/week.

What I want to know is: How do I get in on it?

We are travelling to Orlando in May 2007, and the best I seem to be able to get so far is around $370US (I'm in Canada) for 8 days.

I am obviously missing something and am begging for some insider information.

Thanks in advance.

these are the steps that i use first.

-sign up for the quick rent programs that the different car rental companies. for example fastbreak for budget. Sometimes you will receive coupons for discounts in the mail or email.

-check rentalcodes.com for possible codes to use
-check www.mousesavers.com under transportation to look for various codes
-don't assume that you have the cheapest rate. check often sometimes rates can change daily.(check often)
-play with all combinations of codes and coupons.
-about two weeks out check to see if the car rental company have any last minute codes to use. For example, IG is a last minute rate code for alamo but it can only be used for last minute rates (which this code in particular saved me a lot of money)

I personally like alamo the best because you can stack coupons and codes to get substantial discounts. They also have great rental policies. First, a hold is only put on the credit card for the exact amount of the rental. Second, because their quick rent program is great. Third, the rates they charge have been very good. Fourth, I am almost always up graded to a class or two higher.

I used the KISS2 rate I found on MouseSavers.com and was able to reserve a compact car through Dollar.com for $162.00 (taxes in) for 8 days.

I found that Budget and Thrifty had the best 8 day rates for our upcoming trip. Still not as good as what some fellow Dissers have posted. The best price on an intermediate I got at Thrifty ($170) was using no code at all for 8 days in March. Budget was next ($210) using the upromise code and a $15 off coupon. Now I'm just waiting for some 'last minute deals' but not holding my breath since we're going over Spring Break.

Good luck to you!!
