I usually get the car rental bargains, but I'm having a lot of trouble for my December trip! I'm renting out of Sanford Dec. 15-19 and need at least a six-passenger. The best I've gotten is $143.65 with the weekend coupon on the website and the prepay option, which I don't really want to do. Should I expect December to be high, or is it Sanford? I need to use Alamo or National, they're the only ones with counters open after 8 p.m.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

I also always find a great deal on rental cars and have noticed that December is very high. November also. I'm not sure why and it's been very frustrating. I may just have to suck it up and use ME this time. The rates I am finding for intermediates is like $35. a day. THAT'S TOO MUCH!!!! :badpc:

rlduvall, are you using the mousesavers.com advice? I did really well last Nov. using those coupons and codes with National. Oh well. we just have to keep trying!

Yes, I did use mousesaver codes and ent. rate. Last year, 12-3 to 12-10, my friend and I only paid $95.00, with tax, for an intermediate car with National. This year, it's almost twice that, JUST FOR FOUR DAYS. I was just trying to be a good mother and take my little son (6) for a special mommy and son only trip. :teeth: It really takes the fun out of traveling, doesn't it? :goodvibes

Me too, even with some pretty fair coupons its pricey, National is the best on-airport deal I found, Thrify best off-airport.

All I can do is echo everyone else.
National EA reservation in October for full size with codes and coupon $106 for 7 days
In December $125 for five days (but in all honesty, that's a weekly rate so it would be the same #125 for 7 days)

I did both of these last spring and haven't seem them that low since.

I did see where Dollar came down a little bit for November and December. About $20.99 a day for a compact, plus tax. Starting to get a little bit better. Guess super low rental car rates are becoming a thing of the past. I'm beginning to wonder if ME didn't work against us people who like to have cars. :teeth:

I got $118 from National 12/10 thru 12/17 for intermediate. I did use code and coupon, but, don't have which ones in front of me now. I also booked back in late July I believe since that's when I booked the flight down on SW.

Yeah. I hate that a weekly rate is sometimes cheaper than a 3-4 day rate. I mean, I'm very happy for you . . :teeth: but sucks for me. :guilty: ;)
