Car Rental questions from WDW to PC

I've gone through a bunch of threads and searched for the topics and have a few more questions. I'm looking a one way central from WDW to PC (and probably the same return) for my family of 4 (we have another family of 4 travelling who likely will do the same). I've priced out Alamo which comes to around $60 after tax & fees using the UT link for a full size car.

1. Will I find better discount codes?
2. How much are the tolls from WDW to PC?
3. Which location is easier to do the pick up - Car Care Centre or Dolphin? Hopefully staying at AKL.

Thanks!!

We usually drive and have never rented from on WDW property so I can't be much help there. As far as Tolls you can expect approximately $6 each way. Probably just a little under. You can order a Sunpass card for around $5 I believe and put $20 on your account and not have to pull through any of the tolls just drive on by and they are read electronically and deducted from your account.

I had a post similar to this and we are paying $39 one way through National. We do get a discount through my husband's work, but another person mentioned the same price from Avis, but didn't say if he got a discount or not. (I was feeling that was Avis' normal one way price) We are picking up at MCO. Hope that helps!

Thanks! I'll have to look into that. We are from Canada so not sure if it makes sense for us or not.

Thanks! I'll have to see if I can find some discount codes. When I looked for Avis it was more than that for the day from WDW.

I have a one way rental from Avis to the port for $40 with taxes.

Many codes can be found on flyertalk.

It may be higher because you are from Canada??

For those of you who are renting a car at MCO and dropping off at PC, what are your plans for returning to the airport after the cruise?

4 of us adults did this last May and had a rental car to do 1 day of Disney and spent the night in Cocoa Beach before boarding the cruise the following day. We used Magic Express for ride back to airport.

That's actually a great rate! I rented a car in September for the second half of our vacation..8 nights Disney World, 1 night Boca Raton..6 nights Key West..round trip flight MCO. Cost of multi city was ridiculous when combined with one way rental added as well, and can't fly out of KW with more than one bag anyway, so Miami wasn't worth it. I ended up taking Magical Express to the airport, renting a car, and then went back to resort to load car and leave.
We are staying at WDW post cruise and I would rather rent a car..but I don't know if it's too much of a hassle with drop off. I only need it for the drive there. Does anyone have experience with this?

We will do one-way rental again for $39 as we are headed to MK for the day. Our flight isn't until 7pm. (We'll rent PC to MCO)

Super easy. Budget is at Doubletree and Avis is at Hilton.

But then how do I get to the Contemporary after dropping car off? Would it just be faster to use the dinsey shuttle from the port to CR? The whole reason for me considering a car rental was so we could check in by 9 and head to MK

Reports are that the buses to the resorts are not departing Port Canaveral until 9:00 now. So, using DCL transfers the earliest you'd be at your resort would be 10:00ish.

Budget dropped us off at the GF a couple of times, and we have used a cab as well. Disney Shuttle is more expensive for us, and they also stop at other resorts.

We have dropped off a car at Budget (Avis is just as close) and grabbed a cab to GF, got checked in and still made it to the park by 9. I would use the express walk off to get an early start.

That's what I've been reading and why I'm worried..I've seen some people say they arrived to resort as late as 11:30.

That might be the better option for me. It's only me and my (will be) 6 year old. So shuttle vs car is a wash price wise.. Main difference is me having to drag his booster seat along

Is it possible to rent a car from the resort area at WDW, rather than renting at the airport? (Ideally I'd like to use Magical Express to bring us to hotel, uses busses for our park days, and then rent a car for our check-out day to make it down to PC) Does anyone know where we would pick-up a rental car if we're staying at POR?

At WDW National & Alamo are at the WDW Car Care Center, as well as the Dolphin Hotel. National has an additional counter at Buena Vista Palace.

Avis is at the Hilton; Budget is at the DoubleTree Suites (both of those near Disney Springs); Dollar is at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista.
