I've seen a lot of great rates on this site but can't seem to get close to any of them. I'm really hoping someone can help.

We arrive at MCO late the night of 12/21 and will be staying at Sarasota Springs, and so could take advantage of Magical Express. We plan to do MK & Universal the first couple days and would like a car, but could take the bus to MK.

We move to an offsite hotel on 12/26 and fly back home early on 12/31.

A straight airport to airport rental is showing no less than ~$1000 and we'd like to spend significantly less than this. We're willing to be flexible, but just can't seem to find anything anywhere near the rates being mentioned here. Is it just the season or am I missing something?

Rates are going to be expensive. Time of year. Book something then keep looking.

Consider a 7 day rental. Price a rental with a pickup near WDW and with a pickup at MCO (take DME back to MCO). National/Alamo has a location in S/D and in the car center. Other agencies have desks in the DTD hotels.

How big of a car do you need? There are some car rental codes for December here:

You will probably want to take DME to SSR and then rent a car at one of the Lake Buena Vista locations. You'll pay less in the base price and less in fees.

For your dates (12/22 - 12/31) Budget and Travelocity code BCD X474200 comes up with a minivan for $398 (inc all taxes) out of the LBV Doubletree on Hotel Blvd and dropping off at MCO. An intermediate will save you about $30.

This is exactly the kind of expertise I was hoping to find, but as I'm obviousely dumber than a box of rocks :confused3 , I can't figure out how (or where) you got this rate (I'm still getting $1000 quotes).

Any additional help would be appreciated.

EDIT: OK, I've now cut my cost in half! THANK YOU! I'll continue looking, but I'm already pleased with what I've seen so far. What a difference a code makes.

Go to the Budget.com website. Input your informtation for dates, MCO pickup location, etc. Hit the continue button to show the rates. On the left hand side you will see "Offer Codes" and "Change" click on change. On that screen you will input the code X474200 into the BCD box. Hit continue and you will see the new rates appear.

Full Size car $352
SUV, Mini-van and Premium all show as $360. Of course some fees and costs will come into play as well.
