Car Rental or Towncar??

Okay here's my question of the day.
We are thinking about staying at WL in September. Last year we didn't rent a car and just used Tiffany Town Car (which were wonderful btw) and then relied on the bus system. We stayed at POR and it seemed like the bus system didn't work well at all. We waited an hour for an MGM bus. We also used the Town Car service when we went to Universal.
Since the resort will be so far out, should we rent a car this time?
Also, anyone know of anywhere that will rent a car to you if you use your check card?? I know of one place, but I like to compare prices.

I will say that we always rent a car. I get very tired of the bus service and need to have the car at times.
By the end of our last trip I didn't want to step back on the bus so we only used the car the last couple of days. ( Of course we stayed at AKL so the bus was the only transportation.... If staying where there is boat, monorail etc... it might be different)
