Car rental offer today only - expired

Cheers for the heads up, unfortunately don't offer the class we want.

Out of interest, I've been watching Hertz as was going to book a Premium SUV (Chevy Tahoe) and last night price went from £900 for 28 nights to £1700 which shocked me somewhat! Is that common to raise prices massively before the next round of discount or have they run low on that category.

Not sure what to do for August now, deposit only on usrentacar or hold out for Hertz, my current favourite after the glitch introduced me to them last year.

It's getting tricky because a lot of quote engines are showing the Tahoe as full size which it isn't so I'm pretty sure we'd be stuck with an "or similar". It's generally only a premium.

I looked earlier at this sale and saw a Full size SUV for £159 less 9% Quidco =£144. Just looked again now I have some time and its gone up to £164. Think I might stick with a company I know.

I also keep checking Hertz, no idea whats going on with them cheapest car they are offering me in the 33% off sale in a Chevy Aveo economy for £488.73 GBP :scared1: thats just a 7 day rental.

Definitely something fishy with Hertz today, yesterday they had 35 classes of car, this morning 27 and now 22 or 27 depending on some random factor! Think I'll wait much as I want to fix everything while the dollar is good.

I was also getting silly results from Hertz yesterday. The sale prices seem to be higher than the regular ones. :confused3

Doh! Just saw this and so missed getting the Holiday Auto quote! I've used them before and they were fine.

We're going on the 26th Jan! And have decided to book a car (an economy will do us), but can't see anywahere on the Alamo/Brits site to tell us about excess? Does anyone from here know what the deal is on that please? Otherwise I think we'll go with USRentacar and stick to one driver. Thanks.

I stayed up very late last night to book, I did lots of Googling and found if I went thru Quidco and a little messing with the URL I could gain an extra discount.
Ended up booking a Full size SUV, GMC Envoy (or similar) for £125.46, after Quidco which has tracked.
Downside is it is with Alamo who I believe are offsite at Tampa but don't mind at that price.
It was a booking request because of the type of car so I half expected them to decline the booking but voucher has been emailed to me this morning.

First time renting a car and driving out in the US so need some help.

We are looking at renting a car to take us from Tampa to Downtown Disney, where we will drop it off.

Can anyone tell me what car rental companies are within walking distance of DD? We have looked at Avis which is at the Hilton but are there any others so we can compare rates?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

1st one that springs to mind is Dollar, they are onsite at Tampa airport and closest drop off point to DTD in the Wyndham Resort(was Regal Sun Resort) its the 1st hotel across the road from DTD.

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort 1850 HOTEL PLAZA BOULEVARD
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL UNITED STATES 32830

Thanks Wayne, reliable as ever! :thumbsup2

No problem Simon, when you are ready for booking either start a thread or send me a PM and then others or myself can help with prices.

We too had loads of problems with the Hertz site. We really wanted to book with them for Easter but couldn't get the site to give us a sensible price in pounds - or even a sensible price in dollars. We could get a decent price if we were to pick up the car at another location e.g. a Universal hotel, but not from MCO.

In the end we rang them up and got a quote. Fortunately the agent we spoke to realised the quote she was getting from the system wasn't sensible either. She then tried another option to get us a quote which turned out to be reasonable, so we booked. She did say that she would raise the website problem with someone - but looks like it's not yet fixed.

With Holiday Autos? Care to share the URL you used? ;)

Thanks, Wayne - that's coming in cheaper than Netflights which is the best we've found to date. As far as I can see, you don't know which rental firm you're booking with until you've done the deed. Or am I missing something?

Thats correct, you don't know for sure until you have paid. The cars offered sounded like Alamo line up from a couple of years ago plus others had posted elswhere they had been allocated Alamo cars so I assumed it would be them and it was but you can't be certain.
