Car rental Newbie

hi everyone!

car rental newbie here. just wanted to check with the experts... i booked a one way rental from doubletree by downtown disney, then dropping off the next day at the cruise terminal at cape canaveral. then i did the same thing for when the cruise ship comes back, from cape canaveral, dropping off to double tree.

i used budget because i found the best reviews for them from those going on the cruise. i booked both legs online, but did not pay for either one yet. i do have the confirmation email that has the details, including the rental price.

my question is this - is this all i really have to do or am i missing something? i am assuming i'll need to print out the confirmation emails for both legs, then present it at the rental counter? will the car company keep to that rental price i have when i booked, or can they still change it because i have not paid for it yet?

we do have rental insurance thru our visa card so i won't have to get extra insurance. so will the price i have be the final price or should i expect any other fees?

Its always a good idea to print out a confirmation, but me as a rental agent rarely have to see them. And once your rate is confirmed, as long as you keep to the terms and conditions (basically pick up at said time drop off at said time), than the rental company is obligated to give you your CONFIRMED rate. They can not change your rate just because it has not been paid for yet. Be prepared for hard selling tactics eg. insurance, upsells, fuel, equipment. Stick to your guns, and put on a 'poker' face per say. Most car rental companies, including Budget, can not force you to buy coverage to rent a car, if they say otherwise ask for a rental agreement (folder given at time of rental). It should state in there that "The purchase if CDW/LDW is not required to rent a car.", or something along those lines. And lastly, be prepared for anywhere from $150-$300 security deposit on top of the rental cost. This is not always the case, but is a possibility. Have fun on your vacation.

It is usually much cheaper to book a car through car rental broker (IzziRentacar.com, HolidayAutos.com, AutoEurope.com, etc) then through gobal car rental brand (Budget, Avis, Hertz, etc) directly.
