I need to rent a car in Miami (South Beach preferred) and drive the same day to Lake Buena Vista (or MCO if cheaper). I can do this Dec 10th or Dec 11th ... Just need a one way (must fit 2 adults 2 kids, 2 large suitcases). Anyone have a lead on a car with discount codes?

Thanks
Ted

If you have a Costco membership you can go on Costco.com/travel. I always fly into Ft Lauderdale first to visit family, then drive up to wdw and return rental after resort check in.
They use Alamo, Bugdet or Avis. I prefer Alamo because I can return it to either CCC or Dolphin. The other 2 have desks at DTD, Doubletree or Hilton.

One word of caution, if you plan on using the sun pass feature on the car, if you end up going with one of the smaller or "discount" car companies, be sure to check on their admin. Fees. They tend to be a lot higher then Alamo and budget. I like these 2 companies because they cap their fees, so after 3 or 4 days I think, or $14 you don't pay any more fees. Some companies don't have this. And there are a lot of tolls between Miami & WDW!! I like being able to use Sunpass lanes rather then stopping at every toll booth. And I prefer using the Turnpike all the way. Much nicer drive.

I forgot to add, if you don't have Costco, or CAA, check out Mousesavers.com website. They have discount codes posted.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Ted have you tried Mousesavers? They usually have a good round-up of codes, though right now a lot of them seem to be nearly expired.

I always seem to end up going to Dollar and checking out the "City specials". Not sure if a one-way would qualify though.

Good luck!

We got our last rental with Priceline, I think it was $14 a day for an intermediate car, we ended up with a VW WAGON. It wasn't a bid, they offered me the rate I got. Funny, they rejected my bid which was higher and came back with this offer. If you are keeping it for more than a few day, I would get a Sunpas mini. They are $4.99 but you get that amount in tolls, so it is basically free. It saves stopping at toll booths.

Compare prices on carrentalsavers.com We've used this site a few times but for most discounts to kick in you have to rent for a week.

You're also very early. Usually 6 weeks before rental date prices drop a lot. I would suggest to look around now, and when you find something you are comfortable with book it, but keep checking periodically. Just don't pre pay for anything. Good luck!

Also, if you have them, RBC rewards consistently have the best prices I've seen. You only need 1,000 points ($10 worth) to book with points, you can pay the rest by credit card.

We really like Alamo, but for dropping off in a different location we find Avis has been cheaper. We also check out the codes on Costco, Mousesavers, etc
