Car Rental Help

Hi, I know there are quite a few threads on car rental information and I have read them all but I still can't figure out how your getting such good rates!

I am trying to rent a vehicle in Tampa for at least one day, maybe too. Looking for something that seats 4 adults and 2 kids, the best I can find with a promo code is $80 a day plus fees, etc. Is that good? I am looking at the end of March.

Dollar has a mini van special right now for $44.99/day, so with taxes you would be looking at approximately $56.44 (I used March 28 for one day).

Thank you so much for replying! I just tried and I got the rate! Should I book it now or wait awhile?

One more question, how much does insurance usually cost? It would be one driver over 30. We live in Canada so I don't think my current issurance covers a rental car in another country.

I would book it right now as sometimes car rental companies can run out of specific vehicles.

I too live in Canada and my car insurance here does cover my rentals in the USA. I just have my insurance company email me a letter stating the coverage that I have for rentals. I take that with me.

It would be worth it to call your insurance provider to see if you have coverage already. If not you can sometimes add a "ryder" to your policy for this coverage that is much cheaper than paying for the insurance through the rental company.
