I have a mini van booked for my cousin and his family for 8/25-9/4 out of the Cincinnati airport through Budget. I have found a few codes and such and the best price I can come up with is $400.27. Is this a decent price? We never rent cars so I don't know if I am getting them a good deal or not. I tried the National code but the mini van wasn't available for me. It seems that most of the coupons I am finding expire in June. Do rates go down as the date approaches? TIA :confused3

that seems pretty high to me, however I don't know if that location typically runs high. Do you have a bjs membership? sams, costco?

just for the heck of it try putting in these codes..if it saves you enought $ you may want to consider getting a bjs card.

BJs codes for alamo
$20 off + member discount reserve mid-suv requires 5 day ressie.
id 7011902, coupon code D54C

$25+ member discount reserve minivan or suv, convertible for atleast 3 days. id 7012257, coupon code ad73

I ran your dates through Expedia and $400 looks to be okay, but I think you can do better. I would suggest that you use Expedia or Travelocity to look up which car rental companies come up with the best rates. Then, go to http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html and check out the codes for those companies.

Justplaingoofy,
Thanks for the Alamo codes, even with them it is about $600.

Robinb,
That is how I found the rate I have, thanks! It just seems high to me when I hear the rates others are getting. Maybe Cincinnati just has really high rates. I am hoping they come down some before August!

Thank you both!

I would also try going to the car rental companies websites. They often have specials on them. But keep trying on different days with different combinations of codes. It is like voo doo how people end up with good rates. Also, try entertainment book coupons. Right now, you should be able to get a 2006 book REALLY cheap. I think on mousesavers says you get a 2006 free when you buy a 2007. Get it for your area, that way you can get the discounts where you live, but still get them on the rental cars. You just have to keep trying. And keep trying different times with the SAME codes. You would be amazed! I booked with Dollar for an intermediate with the code on mousesavers, and got a rate of 140 for the week, a couple of days later, I tried with the same code and it was at 190 for the week. You just never know! Good luck!

That seems like a decent price for NOW, but as the travel dates approach I think you might be able to find a better deal. Keep checking the "deals" section at each company as it nears your travel dates. I've noticed that Alamo usually runs codes for 2-3 weeks before they expire and then they put out new ones...

Keep your ressie just in case tho...you never know what might happen and it would stink to have a $400 rate reserved, cancel it and then find out there aren't any deals and it is gonna cost you $600 now!

Good luck!
