Trying to find low cost flights and it appears flying into Tampa instead of MCO may be my option for a fall trip.

I have read there are "deals" on one way rental cars from the Tampa airport taking back to Orlando.

If so, can someone recommend how I go about finding these type of deals?

I don't know about "deals" but an Alamo or National one-way rental from TPA to Disney's Car Care Center (or the Swan/Dolphin or even MCO) can be a very reasonable price for a one day, one-way rental.
Try pricing it out by going to alamo.com or use a search engine like carrentalsavers.com

We like to fly in and out of Tampa. We just kept the car for the week, though.

Hello! In June we are flying into Tampa and flying out of Orlando. I rented a car from Dollar for 6/8-6/15 for $98 (We leave on 6/17 but didn't need car after 15th). I went to Dollar and looked at the specials for Tampa. When I entered returning to Wyndham it allowed me to use the one way return out of FL. I double checked several times and sites - Carrental.com and I get the same rate.

The major rental companies normally do not charge one-way drop-off fees for airports within Florida. Are you talking about Florida drive-out deals (which are used to re-locate rental cars outside of Florida once the snowbird season ends.)?

FYI, rentals out of TPA are almost always more expensive than out of Orlando. This is because TPA (and also PIE) have raised the facility use fee quite a bit, and it does not have a limit. Out of MCO the fee is capped at about $30 per rental, but out of TPA it is about $6/day for the length of the rental period. Do be sure that this effect will not cancel out the savings you are getting from flying into TPA (usually not when you have several passengers, but sometimes for just a couple it's a close thing.)

I've rented at TPA and dropped off at MCO multiple times using Budget and it has always been easy. They are onsite at both airports. Standard procedure in one-way rentals is to base the price on inventory. For example, if a company has a surplus of cars at location A and needs more at location B a one-way rental from A to B would cost less than vice versa. Due to that I always check rental prices up until the night before I travel. If they go down rebook for the lower rate, if they go up you are locked in already.

Have you tried pricing rates yourself? What are you seeing?
