car rental from ssr

Does anyone on these boards know if you can rent a car mid-stay from say ssr and pick the car up and drop off on Disney property? Wondering if this service exists. TIA

You need to double check but I believe National has a center at the Swan/Dolphin.

I was just on the phone with Hertz and was told that hertz has a location at Shades of Green. This was the first I'd heard of this. Susan

You can get a car at the Swan/Dolphin or the car care center. Have the front desk call and National/Alamo will pick you up. Also Dollar and Hertz are at the DTD resorts, I don't recall which one.

My brother stayed at SSR last Nov. They took ME from MCO. He said he walked accross the street to the nearest hotel. He rented a minivan there. It was either Alamo or National. At the end of his trip, he dropped it off and walked back to SSR, just a few minutes. They took ME back to MCO.
The hotel used to be called Lake Buena Vista Palace, but I think that has changed.

we were just at ssr in feb. we took ME from MCO and then we got a car from Alamo. they picked us up by shuttle and took us to car care center to p/u the car. we did have to drop it off at the car care center at the end of the week though.

We have rented from both Alamo and National at the car care center. We stayed at OKW and the car care center sent a van to pick my husband up. We did this to be able to utilize Magical Express. Getting the luggage for 5 of us did not appeal to me so I wanted to let ME handle it and it was wonderfull. Also, the rate was actually a little bit cheaper than renting from the airport because there was no airport tax. The whole process worked very smoothly.

I decided two days into my stay at SSR in January to rent a car. I tried calling the National location at the Wyndham which is just across the street fromm SSR. The girl who answered to phone kept putting me on hold, endlessly (like 15 minutes at a time). Finally, I just walked over to the Wyndham, only to find "Amy" chatting on her cell phone. She then informed me that they had no cars to rent until the next day, While walking back to SSR, I called National, and got a car at the Car Care Center. I scheduled my shuttle pick-up for 10:20, was promptly picked up, and was back at SSR before 11 with the car.

You guys are just awesome, but then again you're Disney lovers and that explains it all. Anybody have the number to the Car Care Center to rent a car? Sorry if I sound stupid but this process would be very new to me. Thanks everyone.

I would book on line with alamo.com or nationalcar.com, BE SURE TO PRINT AND TAKE THE CONFIRMATION LETTER WITH YOU. And check mousesavers.com for discount codes. Others have used MS and found good rates also.

Got a great rate fom alamo for a 15 passenger van in May with my AP discount. Booked this about 2 months ago. When on line and tried again, the rates came out now over double the cost. Glad I got my conformation then.
