do you know of any companies that rent to 24 year olds with no or a low surcharge. i was coming with them friday, but i fell down the stairs and broke my wrist in 2 places :(

That's actually about the norm.....

Sorry about your wrist!

You might try L&M. Sometiimes local agencies are nicer about this

Try Rent-A-Wreck. Not brand new vehicles and not onsite at the airport, but little or no surcharge. That's who we used four years ago when we were under 25 in the Orlando area.

Try EZ-Rental. Go to the MCO website and check all the offsite, small companies. At least one of them might have a better deal. Make sure you sure kid has all the documentation showing coverage with a personal auto policy. Otherwise they'll be spending $$$ on waivers.

at the end of enterprise online ressie they tacked on a $75.00 surcharge, so far i got national down to 60.00 for 3 days, even with the fee its the cheapest. they didnt ask the age on the reeie, but when she gets there maybe?

Got a cast on today, i cant see going to disney like this :(

After you select the car National has a screen where you add rental options. One of the options is $25 /day for a driver age 21-24.

maybe noy check the box, see if they ask, its a married couple??? ended up being $155.11 25 under, compared to $67.00 WOW! they have full coverage and a good/excellant driving record?

Every car rental agency asks to see a drivers license, you're wasting your time. The information from their license information is typed into the computer, based on the date of birth the surcharge will automatically be added. If you don't like the $155.11 rate check the smaller agencies. It's even possible, but extremely unlikely, that a small owner managed agency might cut them some slack. If they don't have full coverage the rate will be even higher. If they don't have an excellent driving record they agency won't rent to them.

Do either one of them work for a large company? Some large companies have a corporate rate, which is available for leisure use, that waives the underage fee. Even then sometimes the rate blacks out many of the discounts leaving you with a high rate.

A few years ago one of the student organizations had a code with a car rental agency that didn't have an underage surcharge. It wasn't a good deal, the code included the underage fee into the basic rental rate. The total charge was sometimes higher than using the best rate you could find and then just adding the fee.

Show up at a bar with ID that says you're 20.5 Try to vote if you're 17.5. Try to get a learners permit if you're 15.5 (assuming the age is 16). There isn't any wiggle room with the age.

When I rented a car to drive to Florida in 2005 I turned 25 while I had the car, but was still charged the underage surcharge for the days that I was actually 25 because it goes by the age you are when you rent the car. It didn't matter than I actually turned 25 during the rental period, when I rented the car I was 24. I know our local Enterprise office, not at the airport, used to not charge the underage fee, but I think they must have gotten in trouble doing that because they became a lot more strict with it.

L&M has the lowest surcharge rate at MCO. We've used them everytime we've gone down. Always had great service and great cars.
