My trip isn't until later in Oct. to the world but in checking car rentals it doesn't seem like there's much discounts out there like there used to be? I'm an Emerald member with national but even codes and rates from mousesavers don't seem to help much?

Is it just that I am I just checking too far out for a trip in late Oct.?

I'm getting some great discounts as a purchaser of the Entertainment Book. For a few $, I have been able to use their contract ID and nice coupon codes way in advance of my visit.

It may be worth your while to make a purchase.

Sorry, I am not familiar with the "entertainment book" that you are referring to. Can you please elaborate and tell me where this is purchased and what it is exactly?

Thanks!

You can find it for sale on the internet ... just go to entertainment.com.

There is also a link from the Mousesavers.com / rental car page that tells you about it.

The best thing about this (for me) has been the car rental discounts. We've also used some restaurant discounts as well though. Certainly, for us, it has more than paid for itself!

I've never used it before but I hear that some really low rates can be had using Priceline.com to bid on a car.

I agree with OP that rates are much higher than in the past. The Carrentalsavers is a good site. Just be sure to make a reservation when you find something at least "okay" and you can always cancel that reservation when/if you find something better. On our last trip (July), I saved about $75 by re-booking with a "last minute" code from Alamo. Good Luck.

Just scored a compact for $10 a day on priceline~! I guess I dont have to worry about my resort choiice as I wont have to deal with the buses!:goodvibes

The merger of the major car rental sites seemed to really affect prices. I used to use Alamo almost exclusively and now their rates are astronomical. We usually are in the market for a minivan which is even higher. I envy the PP who scored $10 rates, how so??????

I bid on Priceline... I just need a compact though.:goodvibes

Using Entertainment Book codes, I got $168 for 8 nights mid-size with National ... that includes taxes and fees ... for late September. I was holding the car for several months at $202, but the price dropped a couple of times recently. Now I'm in line with what I have paid in the past.

We are also Emerald Club members (joined free through the Mousesavers.com site), so my spouse can drive the car for no additional fee and we can select our car from the Emerald Isle ... no need to go to the counter.

Good Luck! I'm sending pixie dust your way so you get a great rate!!!

I started at Priceline at 8.00 for an economy and 9.00 for compact. Hotwire has it for $13 and $15. Of course they rejected it, so tomorrow I will up it a dollar each. I still have a month, and a backup rental with Dollar for $117 total. The rental is only for 4 days, so hopefully I'll be able to priceline it.

I just went to priceline and bib for $10 all the way up to $20 and got turned down Guess I will have to keep doing it everyday until we go .We are going Oct 8 so We have some time send me some pixie dust please:tinker:

You're to far away from your trip. Priceline is best used three weeks from trip or less. Be patient, you'll be rewarded.
