Car rental discounts?

Got a mid-size through PL for $13. My first bid for Sept 17-23, got Hertz as well. Does anyone know what Hertz has for mid-size cars?

My trip isn't until later in Oct. to the world but in checking car rentals it doesn't seem like there's much discounts out there like there used to be? I'm an Emerald member with national but even codes and rates from mousesavers don't seem to help much?

Is it just that I am I just checking too far out for a trip in late Oct.?

I got Alamo for a week, first week of October for $148 using the Costco discount (I think it was the 25% off and $30 off)

I initially went with Hertz and got a rate for a full size for $300 (with taxes, fees, etc.). I was able to swap to a rate with Alamo with 25% off, triple RR credits with SW last week. The rate ended up being around $220 with the taxes, fees, etc. We have less than two weeks to go and I keep checking rates but so far Southwest has the best deals for us.

We always use Priceline and have gotten great rates. Last time, we paid $12/day for a midsize car. When we went to get it, they were out, so they gave us an SUV. Can't beat $12/day for an SUV!

I just used some codes from BJ's for a 10 day rental from Alamo and got a total price of $185.62 with all the taxes & fees for late Oct. Picking up at the airport & returning at the Dolphin. If I booked for our entire 12 day stay it would have been $205.74 but will probably use ME to return to Airport. Of course I booked the cheapest vehicle I could because we don't need a big car. Normally we book 2 separate weekend rentals from the Dolphin because it comes out cheaper but they aren't offering any deals beyond late Sept. yet. I tried using the same codes to pick-up from the Dolphin & return either at Dolphin or return at Airport and it was over $400. I may have Mom take ME so the luggage can be delivered for us If we keep this reservation. I learned a long time ago with car rentals that you need to keep checking daily if possible to get better deals.

National ... Sept. 28-Oct.4th using emerald club ID #5007125 and the $40 coupon #ND1881JDK (thanks to a poster here!) my total INCLUDING taxes is $132.88 for full size executive, but even if you are just an emerald club member, a mid-size is the same price !

I think my problem is that I only need a car from weds night to sunday late afternoon...not quite a full 4 days...so the codes are not getting me anywhere
