Never been to MCO and am looking for the easiest and most convenient rental car location. Also, what is the best way from the airport to get to the Epcot resorts with a rental?

There are rental car companies on site at MCO.
National and Alamo have cars right at the airport so its easy to get to.

Alamo is the current "Official" rental car company of Walt Disney World. Which means they have a longer line then National.

I think Dollar may also be onsite, but I am not sure.

As far as driving from the Airport to the Resorts. Its not that bad. The person at the rental car company will tell you how to get out of the airport on to the highway, and then you just stay on the highway until you get to the Disney World Exits.

The thing to remember about driving around Disney World is that Disney has a funny sign system. Disney groups all the hotels by what park they are closest too.

So Animal Kingdom Lodge, All Stars Sports, Music and Movies, and probably Pop Century are all Animal Kindom Resorts.

Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk, Beach & Yacht Club are all Epcot resorts.

and so forth... if you know which park (including Downtown Disney) your resort is nearest too, you will get signs with details which way to go as you get closer to the park, otherwise they will just say EPCOT etc.

I hope that wasn't too confusing.

I would suggest you ask the car rental rep to give you the directions for the South exit. Usually they give people the north exit which means taking the bee line to I-4. While it isn't hard to find your way that way, there is a lot more traffic. If you take the south exit, you would take the greenway and a lot left traffic.

We alawys use National(on site at airport) and use these directions below.....

From Airport

417 South(red signs)(Florida Greenway) follow to WDW...... Go through 2 tollbooths ($1 each), get off at exit 6, International Drive. Go straight, that takes you to 536 (Epcot Center Drive). Then just follow signs to Epcot area.;)

P.S. There is never any traffic problems this way. If you use I-4 you could be backed up at any time.

At Orlando you have Budget, Dollar, Alamo, National, L&M and Avis to choose from. They are all in pretty much the same location with the garage across the street. So, it would be your choice. I would go with the best rate.

As to the directions, NCligs gave you the best route.

we rented a car through Budget the last two times. There cars are on-site at the airport. To make your time go a little quicker this is what I would recommend.

Go to the budget web-site and sign up for their frequent renter program. Print off the paper it tells you to then fax it to budget. they will send you a card with your personal number on it. There are a few perks they offer you Plus my personal favorite when you go to pick up your keys at the desk you only have to show your card and drivers license and they hand you your keys. By filling out the form to get the card you have already pre-signed your preferences and waivers and don't have to sign another one.

when you make your reservations on line don't forget to put your card number in.

Even when i checked in to get my car at 11pm at night with a little bit of a line they were very quick and efficient.

One note though. If you don't want the insurance riders or damage waivers stick to your guns and say no. This is where they make their money. And don't forget your insurance cards from home.

ps you can rent with your debit card. It is a hold on the cost of the rental plus 25 percent to hold for incedentals.

I hope this will help someone

You do not need to bring proof of insurance, if you do the "quick rent" thing, all that info is in the computer. They should not be trying to sell you again.
