it's been a while since i've rented a car at WDW. when i did several years ago i was getting compact and mid-size for around 110-140 total. when i looked today i was shocked. am i missing something or have they really gone up that much. i usually use alamo with coupon codes, ID. i am going in jan and see prices as high as 250+.

I think January (at least when I'm looking) is pretty high right now. It's disappointing, that's for sure!

I'm to the point where I'll probably just take cabs when I really cannot stand the idea of using disney transportation.

We did the cab thing too one year. If rental prices are high, it works out cheaper. Keep checking the prices as it gets closer. Try Priceline or Hotwire, I've found much lower prices on those sites than any discount code.

I'm flying into Ft Lauderdale in late January and need a rental car. When I first started checking rates, they were way about $200 for the week, closer to $300! But, I just went back and checked again over the weekend, and the rate had gone down to $150, so I booked it. I'll keep checking to see if the rate goes down anymore, but at least I can live with $150!!

My BIL and SIL joined us last month at WDW. When they first started looking for a rental the cost was very high, but 27 days out they found a great price at Dollar. When I look to next Oct the price for 10 days is over $900, but when check 27 days into the future it's around $240. I expect to pay about that in Oct 2014.
