I still use Disney transport.

A few weeks ago when I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn I was very lucky with their Bus to and from the Magic Kingdom. Going there I waited no more then 5 minutes and returning I once again waited no more then 5 minutes.

I have no idea what people want in bus transportation. It would seem that they think the bus should arrive about 2 mins after they get to the bus stop, and then proceed directly to the desired park..with no other stops along the way. And that just doesn't happen.
The Disney bus system is public transit...and they do a very good job of moving a ton of guests around a large area. Is it direct, or fast? No. But, it is still a very good service.
I own DVC at BWV...so I stay there, a lot!!! The only bus service that I have ever had complaints about was the service to, and from, DTD. BUT....I have that same complaint no matter where I stay!!

The bus service from BW is fine. Yes, the buses go to other resorts..always to S/D and sometimes to the YC/BC. But they are all in the same area. And it really isn't all that different than the buses at CBR, CSR or POR....all those buses make multiple stops as well...just because those stops are within the same resort doesn't make the times any shorter!!!!

We stay at the BWV at least once a year and we always take the bus to MK. Sure, you can hit it wrong and have to wait but we still prefer that to the situation at the TTC. MK is the only park that we use the bus for. We drive to AK and either walk or take the boat to HS and EPCOT.

Thanks so much for your replies & advice! :thumbsup2

have not used Boardwalk buses but have had a lot troubles using TTC to get to MK. always a slow go from TTC.

We have only really stayed at the Boardwalk and the busses have always been hit or miss. There are some trips we are always timing it perfectly and others that we are off. Again, I chalk it up to our timing. As a PP has stated it is public transportation and you will sometimes have to wait. Being able to walk to Epcot and take a ferry to DHS isn't a bad trade off though. ;)

If you are set on taking a cab for rope drop I would go from the Boardwalk and get dropped off at the Contemporary. You can walk over to the MK from there or even take the Monorail if its easier.

I could have written this verbatim, LOL! :) But it's true, we stay at BWV every year, and even if you do hit it "wrong" on occasion and have to wait a little longer than expected, I can't imagine a scenario where you wouldn't arrive at MK more quickly by bus than by going to TTC, taking a tram, then either the ferry or monorail.

BTW, we really never have it so wrong that we have missed rope drop, or our dining ressie, etc. Have never waited more than 20 mins. If you leave the recommended hour for Disney transport, you'll make whatever you need to. And even at night, IF the bus lines happen to be crowded, the tram, ferry, and monorail lines are equally crowded...and they do a pretty good job of moving buses around...Hope that helps!

We stay at the BWV once or twice a year and have not found the buses to the MK to be a problem, especially first thing in the morning. We would never consider driving to the MK if we wanted to be there for rope drop! If you drive, you have to wait for the parking shuttle and then either the ferry or the monorail. That can add a LOT of time to the trip, IMO.

It's true that mid-day, the buses run less frequently and make more stops. On return trips from the MK to the BWV, if the BWI/BWV are not the first stop, then the Swan definitely is. We just gt off there and walk to the BWV. It's only a 5 minute walk.

I think some of the people who complain about the bus service have unrealistic expectations, do not own a watch and/or travel mid-day. I have often witnessed people complain to a bus driver about a 30 minute wait when they arrived after we did and we waited 10 -15 minutes or less (I timed it with my watch, LOL).

That said, there are definitely times when bus service was not so great. That happens at all resorts at one time or another.
