DH's "hoopdee" (piece of crap car to get to work with) was hit sometime Saturday night while parked in the street.

We just have PLPD (I don't know what else you call it) and I know there is some type of mini-tort claim or something like that....that you can get 400.00 but I am thinking it is the insurance co of the person who hit it that pays that not ours???.....I haven't called the insurance co yet...I will tomorrow....but just wondered if anyone knows??

You would either need collision on your car or the other party would have to pay. If it is a hit and run, then you would need your collision coverage.

Is Michigan still a "no-fault" state for auto accidents? Knowing that may clarify answers.

ok, MI right? his car was hit while parked? as long as the car was parked and unoccupied the other ins. company is liable to pay for all his damages under their PPIM coverage. if both cars were moving then he could only get the mini tort, up to $500, if he was not at fault.

As long as he was legally parked the other insurance company is legally liable to pay for all the damage (and rental!!).

if you have any questions, feel free to pM!!

MI is still n/f.

do you know who the other guy is??? i got a claim today with four parked cars someone hit in mi!! :)

It was a "hit and run"....so I don't know who the other driver is...
