Wow, the price for our Easter trip is really cheap.....

Questions:

Even on the pre-payment option it states:

'Total Estimated Charge £395.46 GBP'

Why does is say 'estimated'? Surely if I pre-pay then it is a fixed price?

Also:

It states:

Not included in the rates
Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects Coverage
PREMIUM EMERGENCY ROADSIDE SERVICE
Refueling Options
Additional Driver

It quotes daily rates for the first two options but not the refueling options or additional drivers. Does anyone go for these options? How did you find out the cost?

This is such a cheap price, Dollar (who we always book with) are quoting £695 for the same period but this includes all the optional extras except PREMIUM EMERGENCY ROADSIDE SERVICE......

Plus that Hertz price doesn't take into account Quidco cash back :yay:

Any advice please???

Most if not all car rentals quote estimated prices, the one I have now has estimated charges of $0 when I return it tomorow. All prepaid in UK so I don't expect any fees but it still says estimated.

Refueling Options - If you do a dummy booking it gives you all the T&C's you need, or click on the link below then drop to refuel policy
Additional Driver - see post #10 for details.
I never take enhanced roadside cover, never needed basic never mind enhanced.

That's brilliant, thanks Wayne.

I worry that if I book a 'cheap deal' that they will just try to bump the price up with extras when we arrive but I am pretty clear now on the extras and the costs involved.

Thanks again :goodvibes Much appreciated.

PS THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Have just made our two bookings for next year. When I logged onto the site with DH's Hertz 1 club number, it automatically added an additional driver and tank of fuel to the price and it wasn't a great deal more than the original quote. Very very pleased with my savings and hopefully get the 10% back through Quidco too - thank you guys. Hope we like using Hertz as we have had no problems with Dollar to date but just couldn't justify the price difference....

Just booked a Corolla size car for 3 weeks (plus 1 extra day, annoyingly) next July. £321, plus another 10% cashback from Quidco. The 10% Quidco offer is only on until tomorrow (at least according to Quidco) so I would suggest getting your applications in this weekend to get maximum benefit.

I find Hertz one of the best companies, but they are usually too expensive.

Booked car for next Easter before this deal expires.
Took me 2 attempts. First time it would not link my Hertz Gold card, did it via TopCashback as they are still quoting 10.1% cashback. It tracked at 6%:confused3 but my confirmation said my Gold account had not linked due to expired credit card (not posible as it has just taken the money)
Decided to cancel and try again but add new credit card 2016 expiry (old one expired this month) This time went thru Quidco, only 6% but I have better tracking record with them. No problem this time.

Got a fantastic deal on a 7 seater SUV, £266 less 7% = £250 for 14 nights, collecting from Miami returning to Tampa. Says I have to goto Gold Canopy area so should be an easy rental (fingers crossed, Miami is new to me)
Same car with USrentacar/Budget £434 (I wouldn't use Budget anyway, Alamo would be £459)

Joh, been reading a lot of posts on this deal elsewhere, seems a few have had problems getting the discount for next Nov even though they are in the dates.

Wish I had dates/flights for next August, with cheap flights I missed and now this it could have been a cheapper summer trip but its looking like end of Mar at the earliest we can book. Can't believe Universities are so lax at planning for next year. Don't they know there are trip planners out here wanting to book?

Yes, I ended up booking the 1 day before our cruise through Hertz as it was a lot cheaper and it was less than £20 factoring in the cashback so no problems with the potential for losing that. Since Gary is still jobless and netxt November's trip is 50/50 at the moment, I wasn't prepared to commit any more money at this stage just to save a couple of quid.

Thanks so much for this, have just booked our car for Easter next year (helpfully we don't arrive until 1st April which means our dates aren't excluded). Seems like we got a good deal :thumbsup2

Joined the Gold club first - so does that mean I don't have to queue at the airport? Will be so happy if that is the case :cool1:
