Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and is this right? We bought a van at a dealership very far away from our home basically because it was the only dealer that had the color and options that we wanted. We were more than willing to spend our money at a local dealer but no one had what we wanted and to order it would be a 2 month min. Fast forward, it is now time for the 1st service. When we bought the car dh was assured we could take it to ANY dodge dealer and they would service it., well we called the one closer to home and they said, oh , we are too busy, we are only servicing the vehicles bought here, go to the next dealer etc. Well dh did make an appt. with the next dealer, but I really question their service dept. I have read a few negative things on the internet about them. In the past we have had our older van serviced at the local dealer and I need work done again, but I guess they will say no, o.k. do they have a right to refuse service to us?

I used to be a service advisor for a Ford dealership. It's not right--you should be able to go to any dealer. They told you that they could never work on your vehicle? Or was it that they were busy and didn't have an appointment for awhile? I know that we were always booked at least a week in advance in the summer, spring, and fall months. But your first service should really just be an oil change which is not a big deal and usually doesn't require an appointment.

Frankly, if they're going to treat you like that before you even have an appointment, I don't think I'd go to that dealer anyway. They won't treat you right once they're working on your vehicle.

If you bought your vehicle new, you will receive a survey when you bring your vehicle in for service. The survey will be for you to rate the service you received at the dealership you took it to. These surveys are very important to the dealer--cash incentives for the dealership, the service advisor, and the technician are based on their scores. So, you do have quite a bit of power over the service you receive.

Hope everything works out well for you!
