Car Dealership Refuses to honor Ebay sale

Hmmm ... I am not an expert on contract law but the seller may have the option/rights to cancel the contact within a certain amount of time (24-48 hours?) as the buyer does. The auction ended on March 12 and the poster on the Challenger BB wrote about the dealing wanting to cancel less than 24 hours later.

Normal sales there is often a "cooling off" period associated to them, but auctions are very different animals.

I love how when I go to the dealership with DF they look at him, talk to him, address him, and when I ask a question they answer HIM. They all do it! If you want to feel invisible ladies, head to the dealership with a man. They do all the selling the him. I can tell within the initial greeting and 5 minutes if I will buy from the salesman or not.

Men you will never understand the fury that this causes. Watch out!

When we bought our last two cars, they both talked more to DW than to me. Part of it may have been because we made it pretty clear that she made the money, and I took care of the kids. (Plus, since DS was pretty small, and very fussy at the time, IIRC, they would have had to chase me around the dealership, and talk over a fussing toddler.)

And, FWIW - men can relate. Try being a man and going to a bridal show. Same thing. (Maybe worse - as Robinrs points out, smart dealerships won't act that way, but very few, IME, in the bridal industry even want to admit that there is usually a guy involved in the whole wedding process.)

Why buy from a dealership like that? If you allow the salespeople to get away with that kind of crap they will continue to do it since it gets them a sale.

I did ALL the car shopping for our last car. My DH didn't come with me until we were ready to buy and he made it clear to the salesperson that I was the one in charge of the sale. I got exactly what I wanted :cutie:.

If it wasn't for the fact that we were trading in my car that we had already bought from them I would have went to a different place. the person that we bought the first car from was a friend and he was very nice and talked to me as well but he had moved up so he was no longer there. My dh did go back and tell the head guy what he thought about what happened. It really is sad that they treat women this way as we are normally ones that handle the buying of the family cars as the women are the ones that drive them mostly. I don't know about other families but on our family my dh would rather me take care it anyway :thumbsup2

A couple years ago, I listed several things for sale on ebay. Through my own error, I accidently listed them as free shipping. They all sold to the same guy at a very low price. He paid quickly and I was preparing to ship them when I noticed that shipping cost problem.

I was faced with a dilemna. I could ship the items out and end up paying quite a bit more for shipping than he even paid me for the items, or I could refund his money, apologize profusely, and risk the negative feedback. I refunded the money.

You still had to pay the eBay fees, though, didn't you?

I'm sure this dealer will too. Ebay always gets it's pound of flesh, LOL!

Yes, the fees can be substantial in the Motors section! :scared1: I'm sure that dealer will not forget to add the reserve next time!

but in 2003 there was a great ebay fiasco with Mark Mitsubishi in Scotsdale Arizona. As far as I can tell, the story was legit.

This was one of the few times I saw the power of the internet in favor of the little guy/consumer.

But...as far as I can tell, Mark Mitsubishi is still selling cars.
