A silly question...if one were looking to purchase a new car (or a gently used one hehehehe), which color would be less likely to show scratches and dirt? DH and I are having a discrepancy over this.

Dark green
White

I'm not a big fan of white, but it really hides scratches well. I've never had a car that hides dirt very well.

Certainly not black that is for sure

I would guess white... my father has a white pick up truck and it actually hides dirt and scratches (both of which are actually plentiful on it if you look close enough :rotfl: )pretty well.

I had a Sandblast (ie metallic beige-ish color) colored car that hid the dirt and scratches amazingly well!

I would say gray would hide everything the best followed by white. The color that is the worst at hiding anything is black so just stay away from that.

I currently have a white car. I've had several white cars in the past. The dirt shows much less on a white car than on a dark car.

We've had many colors, but the last two cars have been a light Bronze Mist metallic clearcoat, that does not show a lot of dirt or scratches. If we ever buy again, I'd insist on similar color as it's the best we've ever had! :goodvibes

I have had 2 white cars; both of them hid dirt and scratches amazingly well.

My last 2 cars have been silver, and while they almost NEVER look dirty, they do not hide scratches.

My theory confirmed! I have been trying to (gently) insist that the white car would hide dirt and scratches better than the dark green one (of the two he's considering). He has been reluctant to agree with me.

My first car was white and I agree with the others; dirt/salt and scratches really didn't show. Unfortunately, tar obviously shows very well, when you go through a newly paved road.

My current car is metallic gold and IMO, it's even better than the white. You can really only see dirt on the windshield!

White would hide best. Green won't hide anything. That said, I still wouldn't buy a white car personally. ;) I had a tan car that hid it pretty well too.

White might hid scratches better but when those scratches turn to rust not so much. Then I think they stick out more.

We're in the process of getting a new car now and DH insists that it is black. Our current car is black and I am not fond of how dusty it gets and the scratches. Although it doesn't bother me that much where I feel a need to constantly clean it. I just pretend it is a gray car.

I had a white car and it showed less dirt and scratches than my husband's dark blue one. I just traded it in and got a light tan one for the same reason. Lighter colors will show less dirt/wear than darker colors.

White. My white car always looks clean. And green cars are more likely to get hit (or so I was told).

I guess they blend in to the background too much.

lol. I don't know if it's true. It's something I heard once.

I did have a sort of teal green honda accord that got hit 2 weeks after I got it. I've gotten white cars ever since.

Wonder what color this car is?
