So we decided to fly in a day before our vacation officially begins so we can spend a day at Disney Springs and relax a bit before the madness starts. Picking up our rental at MCO on Sunday, then dropping it off at CCC on Monday Morning. Sunday night we are staying at the Marriott Village, then going to the Contemporary on Monday Morning. Advice on making things quick and smooth is appreciated.

Should I take the family to the Contemporary, let them check our luggage with the bell hop while I return the car and take the shuttle back to the hotel?

Should I take the family and luggage with me to the CCC and we all shuttle back to the hotel?

I was told the shuttles have no set schedule on returning to hotels like they do the parks.

If we want to get to the park by 8:30 AM what time should we leave Marriott village? I know what google maps says for travel time, but if anyone knows the realty that would be great.

The CCC opens at 6:00am so your not leaving much time if you want to get to a park for rope drop.

I don't believe that you can bring luggage on the shuttle back to the resort (thought I read this somewhere - please correct if I'm wrong)

If it were me, I'd probably be up bright and early, drop everyone and the luggage off at your resort and then go drop off the car (probably no later than 6:30-7am).
CCC is not very far from the Contemporary, hopefully you can get the car dropped off and arrange the shuttle in short order.
Since you are at a monorail resort, I'd suggest MK for your first day to minimize travel time.

You didn't say what time you are arriving at MCO.
My other thought would be that if you are arriving mid-day, why not keep the car for the full 24 hours and then take a mid-day break from the park and return the car then. It would save all the running around in the early morning and probably allow for an extra hour or 2 of sleep. JMHO

Don't forget to allow extra time for the security screening procedures at the entrance to the parks (bag checks, metal detectors etc)

The rental car shuttles are totally normal rental car shuttles like at airports; you can bring bags on them. (but not on the disney buses)

But I would be up EARLY, drop the family off so they can stash bags and do whatever checkin you might want to do, and go return the car. Then either meet them at the hotel or at MK. Dropoff at MK is actually at the Lost and Found center at TTC, so you would still have to get to MK from there (boat or monorail). It's probably easier to get dropped off at CR and walk or monorail over.

I don't know anything about there being schedules at all. For both park or hotels, I tell them as enter the building where I'll be going, they put my name on the list, then I turn in the keys. Then I come out and wait for the shuttle to wherever I'm going.

I mean, they might have a schedule, but it's by NO means apparent to me.

I knew I heard something about that somewhere, guess I mixed up my info between the Disney buses and the Alamo shuttle...sorry.

As far as a schedule, I'm not really sure either.
When we used the shuttle back to CB it was less than a 10 minute wait after dropping off at CCC.
There were 3 of us waiting (all going to different resorts) and they loaded us all on the shuttle and off we went.
I was second drop so I was back at CB within about 30 minutes of going to return the car.
