Car Care Center users ?

Hi!

We usually rent a car from the airport but this year due to our trip plans, we are going with the Car Care Center. Currently we have a pickup truck rented (it was the cheapest) as well as a car. We ended up having to change our flight and now need to return the car earlier than expected. I went in to try and adjust the times, and it was going to be about $40 more for the car, but ended up being a cheaper rate for the truck.

We would really prefer a car, but can't justify the price difference (even with the difference in gas!) Just wondering if anyone has been there lately and seen if they actually have trucks there (we would be quite happy if they didn't and we had to take a car!) I know at MCO you get to pick your vehicle and 9/10 we have booked a full size and picked up a minivan (which we don't mind) so wasn't sure how it worked there (I know that your car is reserved for you there and you don't get to pick)

Also, any experience with dropping off before/after hours?

Minimal selection at the CCC, so if you have a truck reserved, they might make sure they have one for you.

I can't see how you could pick up or return outside operating hours. You should be able to find the direct phone number on the Alamo site, or call the toll free number and ask for it. Call them directly and get answers.

I rented a car from them in Oct 2017 and they brought it around to the front for me, I did not get to pick it.

They do allow for drop offs when they are closed via a drop box However as an FYI the CCC is not on any Disney bus routes. So if you are dropping off when they are closed you will need to find your own way back to where you need to go. During operating hours they have a free shuttle service. FYI: All of the Alamo/National locations on (Car Care Center, Hilton Buena Vista Palace, and Walt Disney World Dolphin) have After Hours return options. There are secure key drop-off boxes at the first two and you return the car at the WDW Dolphin through their valet service. Your rental contract will be closed out when the location opens and a receipt gets emailed.

When you try to make a reservation with a return outside normal operating hours, you see the following on the website:
"Instructions:
If returning after hours, please place the keys in the Alamo drop box located in the front of the building"

This is not good advice. Alamo's Rental Terms and Conditions specifically states that they can re-price the rental if you return it early. Just because you've done this without penalty doesn't mean other people will not be charged extra. An early return might change a weekly rental into a daily rental. And the repricing is based on current rates which may be much higher.

From the Rental Terms and Conditions:
"c. Additional Obligations of Renter – Unless prohibited by law Renter shall pay Owner, its affiliates or agents:
(2) Owner’s adjusted daily, weekly or monthly rate applicable on the date of return, if Renter returns the vehicle before or after the agreed upon return date."

It just takes one employee that insists on sticking to the rules in order to end up paying extra. Although I've always found the employees working at the Disney World Alamo/National desks to be good, I did once run into a woman that was militant about policies. She refused to let me pick up a car roughly 15 minutes before my reservation time.

I only saw the OP ask about dropping it off as well. Maybe the OP edited their original post and had asked about picking it up early? 🤷‍♂️
