I've been checking out the menus on Disney World's website. I came to Captain's Grille and the menu is showing a buffet menu.:confused3

Has anyone been there recently that can confirm or deny this?

Here's the menu as it appears on WDW:

I just went to the website and saw the same thing. I hope this is not the case. Captains Grille is one of our favorite best kept secret dining locations in WDW and would be disappointed if it is now just another buffet restaurant with less than average food plopped on a steam table.:confused3

Well, a buffet would actually solve the horrendous service problem there (it should never take 2.5 hours for a simple meal), but I still don't think we'd eat here again.

Interesting though...

I just popped over to this Board for this very reason! Glad to see this thread. :)

The Disney World website has this information on their main page to Captain's Grille:

......For dinner, catch the seared scallops and snow crab legs or venture onto dry land with the grilled New York strip or pork tenderloin. Sprats have their own menu too, featuring kid-friendly fare like a grilled shrimp skewer and grilled beef kabob.

But when you look at the dinner menu - no mention of there being either scallop or crab leg on the buffet. Of course I could call up a Disney magical helper person and ask the question is there or is there not but depending on who I get and the number of times I call I will get that many different answers.

Anyone know for sure? My family can really put away some crab legs. I think not. Mickey would have to be crazy to put crab legs on a buffet. :rotfl2:

:confused3That would be interesting to know...Especially since the menu was just revamped! In as much as I like buffets for the kids I wasn't looking for that here when we go.
Breakfast is an either or on buffet, maybe that hasn't been updated for dinner to reflect that yet?

Disney Magical helper person :lmao::lmao:

I just checked the trip advisor reviews to see if anything recent was posted. No mention of recent visits that it is a buffet.

Hey llebrekniT - The Cape May Cafe has a seafood dinner buffet that does have crab legs (among other things). We tried it a few years ago. It was pretty good.

That really disappoints me if it is indeed now a buffet. We also thought it was a best kept secret.

I do not like the buffets because it is a lot of subpar food in my opinion. You never get the same quality you just seem to get quantity. I would rather have one thing that is very good as opposed to many items that are OK. I do understand the appeal of the Buffet and it is simply my opinion.

Just talking with my husband about Captains grille. I do not understand that because they have Cape May ( I think that is the name) right next store in the Beach Club that is a buffet.

That being said. Last time we were there we wanted to grab a dinner and we walked into the Beach club and Cape May was jammed packed. Out of curiosity I asked how long a wait? It was a 1/2 wait. We walked a little further to the Yacht Club and Captains grille had no wait and was fairly empty.

I guess those buffets tend to do better. Perhaps that empty Captain's Grille was not a fluke because now that I think about it we never have trouble getting a table???

What a disappointment. Cape May is a buffet. We always had a nie dinner at Captain's Grille, but will re-think.

I am also very disappointed as I have a dinner reservation there for April which I will cancel and rebook something else if I find this change is definite :headache:

LOLOLOL Had the SAME problem. We were trying to decide to change a reservation to Captain's Grill and it came up as a buffet. I personally don't care for buffet's... so I was adamant about not going there.

BUT... turns out it was a computer glitch.

Really? :confused3 We have been eating crab legs on the Cape May Clambake buffet for many years now and they are delicious! ;)

WHEW! My goodness - I was holding my breath reading this entire thread! We like the dinner buffets, but didn't expect Captain's Grille to be one! Its one of our favorites! Thank goodness we can still get our favorites.
