We are going sept 10-21, and i have finally convinced my family to cancel teppan edos and try something else. dont get we wrong we all actually LOVE teppan edos, but we have the same restaurants at home and they are nothing different so i want to do something we cant experience at home. we have never been to either place before, and both look good though im leaning towards the menu for captains grill but the location and entertainment for raglan road. we want to go to DTD that night. i have a ressie booked for both so i can just cancel whatever one i decide not to take. i think that day we are just gonna go to disney quest in the afternoon and swim at the pool, then dinner at either place then cruise DTD for the night. we dont mind bus/boat hopping (we are staying at POFQ). i really wanna try Raglan road but we are also eating at rose and crown, are they too similiar? please help me make my decision. my family is letting me decide this one since my parents approved of both menus and are letting this be my choice! i narrowed it down from these two from all the dining reservations that were available the day we are doing this. its a saturday. i also thought about biergarten, but my dad said we did it when i was younger and my mom hated it and its very german food and its an odd menu and my dad thinks im not going to love it as much as a think i will.

I would go to Raglan Road. I don't think there's anything at Captain's Grill you can't get at any basic continental restaurant but done much much better.

Double check the status of Disney Quest, I read they are closing and turning it into an NBA themed something but I don't know the timeline for the transition.

thank you for that, do you think its too close to rose and crown? we are doing that too. Disney quest will be open through the end of the year

I too think Raglan Road. Since you are staying at POFQ, it is way more convenient than traveling to the YC for dinner. Plus you want to spend the evening in DTD.
Raglan Road is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food, warm friendly servers, and wonderful entertainment.
'We do most every trip.
I do not think it is too much like Rose & Crown

So the Rose and Crown is a good place to eat, but it is a pale shade of what Raglan has to offer both in menu and entertainment. I would highly suggest you do Raglan and then you can decide later if you want to also do R&C.

Another vote for Raglan Road. It's menu is different enough (as is the entertainment and presentation) from Rose & Crown that they are not overlaps. Raglan Road's main dining room can be loud (due to the band and Irish Dancing), but it's part of the entertainment (there are quieter tables in the side room, but you can't raelly see the band or the dancing from there). Raglan Road is high on my family's list of places to visit in WDW (as is Rose & Crown). Captain's Grille is okay, but not a place I would make a special trip to. The food was okay, but not really memorable, there is really no entertainment, and some of the tables are noisy (as in, you can hear the noises from the kitchen and echo from other tables - so loud, but not in a good way).

Post a review when you go! I am curious. I see posts on a disney foodies group on facebook about it all the time and it makes me want to go!

thats why i want to go too because i am on the disney foodies group!!! ill post my review here and a general review post. ill take pics of food and the restaurant and such. we are going at 830 so im hoping the live entertainment will be there around that time.

CG is SUCH a great restaurant! The atmosphere is very nice, calming & relaxing. The food is top quality, we felt like we were having dinner @ a signature!! I've never done RR but want to try it! :) Enjoy!!!!!

CG was the worst meal we've ever had on property and we aren't picky. We won't be back. DS ended up getting sick and my shrimp were 1/2 raw. We are trying RR for the first time this trip and can't wait!

I know it is so bad going on there. It makes me hungry all the time and so excited to go. I swear I will come back 20 pounds heavier due to that group and everything they post. haha. Can't wait to hear about your experience!

Be aware that Rose & Crown is more traditional pub food, while Raglan Road is modern Irish food, meaning the Shepherd's Pie has red wine in the sauce, which my daughter hated. The RR menu is updated cuisine that you would get in a cool restaurant in Ireland, according to some other folks who have done a review.

thank you for that! im excited im eating at both on my upcoming trip now since they are different and i thought they were going to be too similiar.

We ate at Raglan Road on 8/13 - entertainment and food were top notch - and as others have mentioned it is more modern versions of classics. All of us either had the Shepherd's Pie or the Stew. I loved the wine reduction served with the Shepherd's Pie - I wish there was more of it. The service was great, and they were very accommodating and mentioned that things could be changed to make them more 'familiar'. I guess a lot of guests are used to peas and/or carrots in Shepherd's pie, so they will add those for you. I happen to love peas - so I opted for them to be included. The server said he would put them on the side so that I could add them as I liked. Well, out came a large bowl of the freshest, flavorful peas I've ever had in a restaurant - I had a ton and still shared with everyone at the table. I'm still thinking about them!!

I don't know if you are traveling with younger children, but they gather them up at the end of a 'dancing set' and teach them a short dance and bring them up on stage to perform - so cute, and gets raucous applause.

Make sure you ask for a table near the entertainment in the main dining room, and let them know you are willing to wait - there are a few rooms with no visual of the dancers.
