When booking excursions through Captain Marvin's, should that be done ahead of time? If so, how long?

I would say yes to make sure you get the time and tour you prefer. I would say at least a couple months out you would be safe to get your choices. Make sure to inquire about cancellation policies as sometimes GC can be a tough port to tender to. There are many tour companies at the pier when you land that could also take you, but if you know what you want go ahead and do it ahead of time.

Yes, book ahead. Captain Marvin's has a great cancellation policy. You pay when you get there (so no charge ahead of time.) If your reason for cancelllation is that your ship couldn't get in, first..you are automatically cancelled--YOU don't have to contact them, etc. Secondly, there is no fee at all.

I think they are so generous because they want you back on your next cruise. Also, this is the deal they had to agree to with the excursions they sell thru DCL--if DCL can't get the ship in, niether DCL nor the guest loses $. (just my opinion there).

Anyhow, my dealings with Captain Marvin's have been great, even though we couldn't tender in!
