I see that Captain Jack's is one of the only Downtown Disney restaurants on the Disney Dining Plan. We've never eaten there and I was wondering if some of you could offer your opinions on dinner there.

Thanks!

We've been there twice and have been disappointed. Will not go back. Because we're a party of 2 they seat us at the worst table. Food is microwaved and rubbery. We were seated right at the waiter station where the food comes out and you hear the microwave ding every few minutes. The first time we ate there I had some kind of pasta and it was terrible. The waitress was nice enough to offer something else at no charge but I just wanted to leave. It's a shame b/c it's a nice place right on the water but the food is scary! I always give places the benefit of the doubt but after 2 very bad experiences we won't waste our time.

 Uh Oh! Not just one bad experience but two?

Plus I heard they removed the lobster from the dining plan and I would assume that's why most people ate there. They did have good key lime pie!

We have eaten at Capn Jacks 4 times over our last 2 trips and were always satisfied with our food. We are also a party of two and have sat at the windows every time without requesting it. I cannot complain about the service either. We mainly ate there for the lobster tails (on dining plan). I will eat there again when I am planning on being in DTD but since the lobster tails are gone I will eat there only once during my 8day stay next time. I do feel that they could upgrade the restaurant and the menu as this is a prime piece of property at DTD being on the wharf.

Cap'n Jack's is the only table service restaurant at Downtown Disney that is actually owned and run by Disney. That is why you see it on the 2009 dining plan list. The non-Disney owned restaurants at DTD that participated in 2008 would need to renew their contracts with Disney before they are placed on the 2009 dining plan list.

They removed the lobster tails from the menu entirely in October - not just from the dining plan.

We spent lots of time at DTD this past trip and walked past there quite often. Never saw more than a handful of people in there. Lots of people were complaining about the only decent thing on the menu (lobster tails) being taken off. Personally I'd go someplace else.

We always eat at Capn Jacks the first night we are there and we like it. Try it. Everyones taste is different.

I ate there last Wednesday-i was in Orlando on business-we had an unexpectedly free evening and decided to do a bit of shopping in DTD. We were able to walk up without an ADR-but had to sit at the bar-the food-my co worker had salmon and i had crab cakes-was outstanding-the service fast and effiecient-and the whole experience quiet pleasant

I went for the first time last month. It was okay. Nothing memorable, really. The crab cakes were very large and tasty, my shrimp alfredo tasted jarred.

We would not go out of our way to eat there again but in a bind, it was fine. Service was fairly non existant but it was late so we cut her a break.

We ate there with a family of 5 this past November.
We obtained seats by the window and the views were really neat.
The food was average, at best, and we were disappointed by the removal of the lobster tails (that's what we wanted).

I was able to get smoothies for my drink on the Dining Plan so that was a plus and the kids enjoyed their menus.
However, we had T-REX for lunch that day and will probably choose T-Rex over Cap'N' Jack's for dinner next time around.

we ate there as a party of 2 and were seated at a window seat i got the lobster tails and my sistergot the shrimp pasta i believe both were very tasty

however this was very late one night at the end of september and when others in my party went a few nights later but the lobster was no longer on the menu

The food is ok. The service is ok. The location is ok. Not good, not bad, just ok. I would look for something different if you have options.

I really wanted to include this to my list for the next trip- but so many so-so reviews worries me. DH and I ate there way back in 1999 when it was called something else, and we enjoyed it. We'll see.....:confused3

Raglan Road was on the dining plan last year. My family and I ate there for Thanksgiving and it was fab! So I called to book my ADRs and have a reservation at Capt. Jacks but I will be moving it if Raglan opens up to the dining plan. The ADR girl said a good amount of resturants are still deciding so its not out of the question. I'd rather not eat at Capt. Jacks cuz of the so-so reviews but better to have the ADR and change than skip and risk missing out.

We like to eat at Captain Jacks. My dd 17 loves the shrimp and penne pasta. We almost always get seated by the windows. It's a nice place to relax after shopping. jmho :)
