We ate twice at Captains Grille last month. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. Breakfast was quite good. We did the buffet which had a lot of selections and everything was fresh and yummy. The dinner was terrific. The service was a little slow that night, but we didn't care. The food was SO good. Dh and I had steaks and the kids got the chef's pasta creation which was AMAZING - it was a potato pasta with seafood in the most delectable white wine butter sauce. I about died and went to heaven when I had a bite!

We ate there NYE 2 years ago and had a great meal with great service. We did the 3 course price-fix menu and were able to use ddp ts credit for it there as with others(Le Chefs, Le Cellier). Did not eat there last year during xmas week, but would definitely return.

Connears

We always eat lunch there...Lobster Roll & Steak Fries...YUM popcorn::

We ate dinner there last week. I think it had a very relaxed atmosphere, though the service was very slow. I did the 3 course menu and enjoyed my appetizer (caesar salad) and dessert (chocolate profiterole), but I wasn't thrilled about my entree. I got the crab cakes and even though I knew beforehand that they weren't going to be Maryland style, I was still a little disappointed that they weren't what I am used to. Can't really blame the restaurant for that, though! My MIL said the steak she had there was better than the one she had at Le Cellier and my SIL thoroughly enjoyed the chef's pasta creation.

Our family had a dinner there in December. Really good food, great service. I'd recommend it.

We had dinner there a few years ago and it was the best pork chop I ever had...I would love to go back again!

We had breakfast there and it was great!:thumbsup2 Actually I just put that on my list to do again this year!

Oooh, perfect timing for this post!
I'm trying to decide if we want to try the Capt's Grille (already have ressie), or switch to Via Napoli. I think my kids will enjoy Via Napoli more... but it's always so hard to predict in advance!

We enjoyed our meal there - the pork was good, the steaks just ok. Desserts were so-so. The best part of the meal was the berry smoothies - they were fanastic, were refillable and included on the DDP. They have the same name as ones in other Disney restaurants but they were much better. I asked the waiter about it and he said they make them special there. They were great!

I think the Captains Grille is a horrible restaurant and hands down the worst dining experience in all of WDW. The steaks are terrible, they serve warm soda and cold coffee, the service is abismal, and the place is absolutely ear piercing loud.

Now if I scared you away good, I want to keep this well kept secret just that, a secret. :rotfl:

Seriously, I love this place. While it is certainly not over the top WDW theming (sometimes you need a break), it is very quiet, comfortable, and not hard to get into. I have found the food to be very good. As a pp mentioned, I like the steak here better than I do Le'Cellier. I have never encountered average or poor service, it's always been very good to excellent. I would easily have no problem recommending this place at the expense of keeping it a well kept secret. :thumbsup2

We really had a great dinner here and would definately go back again.:thumbsup2

It seems to have taken up a position as our arrival day dinner. Or...lunch, if we get there early enough.

We also like the breakfast: a la carte, or buffet. Especially if we're not interested in a character meal.

THANK YOU GUYS SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!! Now I am feeling good about our reservation for Oct. and I am very excited to give it a try!!!! I will have to try the pork chops :) Thanks again I love the disboards!!

Everyone is correct, it's good but a little slow. Just go when you don't have to rush and you will enjoy it.

We just ate there tonight and the food was delicious, the chef came out to talk to us about an allergy AND he followed up afterwards, and although the service was slow to start, it picked up and was very good throughout. I would say that you made a good choice in planning to eat here.

We ate there in the fall and it was pretty much the only restaurant on property where I felt the food was made from scratch (of the places we tried). We really enjoyed it and have lunch reservations next month.

I have never like caesar salad and the one I tried there was the best I haved ever eaten and I almost stole it from my Dad!
It was also the best crab cake I have ever had and loved the slaw on the side.
The pre-fix dinner meal can't be beat.

The desserts are 'eh'. Next time, I'm going to try the kid's dessert...it's a kabob of rice krispy treats, brownies and fruit....not exotic, but sure looked fun.

I ate there 2 years ago with friends and it was very good but the service was slow. I am going back in October with 15 friends and cannot wait. Highly recommend.

Captains Grille has become our family's favorite/go-to restaurant. The food is very good quality and taste even better. Apps: Crab cakes w/slaw and Caesar Salad tops our list. Main: Definitely the Pork Chop. Propbably the best pork chop I ever ate! The steak is very good as well. Dessert: profiteroles w/mousse and ice cream is our usual. I love the fact that we can also count on this restaurant being available when we make our ADRs. I hope this helps
