Captain EO?

Thank you! My DS 8 loved it when we were there in June and was hoping it was not gone yet.

We did not care for it too much. The funniest thing was that my children did not recognize MJ as they never knew he looked like that! :)

I would love something Disney/Pixar in there but something different - not Toy Story, Monsters, Inc. or Stitch. Maybe The Incredibles or something they have not done anything on.

We watched it several times in July. I really don't understand why so many fellow DISers dislike EO so much. My DH and I love it and every time we go see it the theater is packed and everyone is enthusiastic and claps before and after the show. True is is older technology and it is cheesy but that is part of the charm IMO :confused3.

Because they hate MJ. A lot of them won't admit it, but that's the main reason why, if not the only reason.
I personally love EO; I saw it 4 times on my last trip and have multiples of all the merch they sell for it (in addition to numerous things from the original run in the 80s). I even have it on DVD and watch it regularly. The haters will never acknowledge this, but every time I saw it, the theater was full of people who were enjoying the show.

We went last fall, just for the nostalgia of it. About 5 minutes into it we suddenly remembered why they got rid of it in the first place! :lmao:

Add us to the list of those who won't be back!

I liked HISTA. I like the way the whole Imagination pavilion was themed...with HISTA kinda carrying over to Figment (in the line, anyway.)

But I will take almost anything at this point, just to be rid of Captain EO.

Not even close - I'm not an MJ hater (have some of his songs on my iphone right now) and I have always liked Anjelica Huston as an actress. Still doesn't mean I have to blindly accept everything they have done as good or even likable.

I think its a bit of a leap to assume that because people don't like Captain EO that means they are MJ Haters. I don't like the Stitch ride either but I have always enjoyed the stitch movies.

Well count me as one who loves capt EO.......music great, lots nostalgia

Count me in as one that likes Capt. EO. I saw it for the first time in April, then again with DBF in September....he didn't care for it, but I did. I'm not sure it will be around for much longer...but I am glad I got to see it.

In the words of the Simpson's Comic Book Guy (Jeff Albertson):

Worst Attraction Ever!

Not really, but thatnks for speaking for the rest of us. I don't like the movie, I could care less about MJ, I wasn't into him when I was a kid and I'm not going to start listening to someone's music 30 years later just b/c he is back in the press. The quality of the movie, the laughable script, the horrible special effects, the volume of the music/effects, and the overall experience is horrendous. Disney can and SHOULD do better.

I remember parts of Captain EO from when I was an 8 y.o. I will say I LOOOOOVE MJ. My kids watch all of his videos (that are appropriate for 3 and 5 y.o.'s) from when he was young throughout his career. They dance to all his songs on the Wii and go crazy when they hear any of his music, from the Jackson 5 on.

I am hoping Captain EO is still running in May when we visit. My kiddos will be thrilled! That may be the only souvie I buy myself on the trip. Not kidding!:rotfl:

Though I don't agree with many decisions MJ made, he was a musical and theatrical genius.

I don't care what they replace it with, it can be a wall to stare at, it's just awful and needs to go. I didn't love HISTA but I'd lovingly welcome that back at this point.

I thought EO was kind of funny to see (I saw it last year on my birthday as part of my birthday trip) it was just silly to watch, but I have to admit that it's better than HISTA. The effects were quite startling, but I'd go and see it again, because hearing MJ sing and perform such a silly role was a lot better than seeing something based of such an overrated movie series.

HISTK is so overrated! What was the need for two sequels and a TV show?

I hope they keep EO until they can get something worthy to put in the Magic Eye Theater. Something like Philharmagic at MK, that'd be GREAT.

you know, i'm glad i've seen it and enjoyed it once, but that's enough for me. i never saw it the first time around, but remember it being advertised on the opening of Euro Disney and was like 'oo look, there's that woman singer with curly hair' (when i was young i thought michael jackson was a girl ha).
i think though to appreciate it now you have to know the full story behind it. i know they only bought it back because MJ died, otherwise it would have still been in the DisneyVault somewhere collecting dust.
lets hope they replace it with something awesome.

I never liked it much to begin with and now it's back it seems very dated. It's also a little creepy to me, since MJ met such an untimely death. I was never a big fan. However, DH enjoys it and insisted we see it when we were at EPCOT in Sept.

Couldn't be that Captain EO sucks, could it?

We must all hate Stitch and Drew Carey a lot, too.

The difference there is that when people have negative things to say about those two attractions, they never throw in personal slams at Stitch or Drew Carey. Look at past threads about Captain EO, and you'll find people making all kinds of comments about MJ, not even about the show itself. That's what annoys me about those discussions- people who don't like MJ and therefore won't be able to enjoy the show should just skip it, but for some reason lots of people here prefer to see it and then whine about his presence in it, as if they didn't know about that ahead of time.
I am a sci-fi fan and would like EO even if MJ wasn't in it, just because I enjoy the story and the characters. The fact that MJ plays the main character is a bonus to me, but not the entire focus of the show.
