i remember reading its opening back up the 29th. It still looks like there is quite a bit of construction going on. Anyone hear anything regarding this?

That was a misread of a sign:

The other rumored date is 2/8 (I hope not b/c we'll be there and would much prefer that So. Cal pass holders stay away - nothing personal - just prefer light crowds.) I'm not sure of the basis behind the 2/8 date.

I remember going to EO when I went with my Mom, but I don't remember much beyond waiting in the queue down the ramp and in front of the doors watching a video or something before we went in.

NOOOO not the 8th! PLEASE be after the 10th...so i can sneak my trip in before the masses arrive!

No one seems to know. I've read opening rumors from 01/29-02/19. I just find it suprising that being within a month of opening, there's no official opening date announced. You would assume that they would try to milk it for all it's worth. But then again, with all the local passes, I've read Disney is trying to keep this semi quite so there's not mass hysteria that day in the park (although that makes no sense to me because by the next day it will be all over and the next day will just be chaotic) :confused3

Ugh. Mixed feelings on this one. DH is a HUGE MJ fan and would LOVE to see it on our trip the weekend of the 20th - but I am thinking it will boost attendance which is something I would rather not see...

Even if it does boost attendance, it will be great for other lines. The theatre will be packed for every show. That takes people out of the park and into the theatre. HISTA and it's perforamcnes to 50-70 people per show didn't do that.

Hope it works out like that! :)

As of Friday, there was still scaffolding around the outside of the building as you're walking down the ramp to the theatre.

We were the last Monday (1/25)and all the signage for HISTA was still up. I also saw the scaffolding where you waited to enter the theater. I didn't see much that would lead me to believe it would be opening soon.
