Al Lutz noted recently that Disney has decided to bring Captain EO back to DL. I guess we will get more info in his next update.

Editor's Note 8/28: Captain EO has now received the green light to return to Tomorrowland, but timing was too tight to make it by HalloweenTime. Hooter and gang will now land at Disneyland this Jan to boost winter attendance, the official announcement coming from Jay Rasulo at the D23 Expo- Al Lutz

Wow will that draw in some crowds. I was planning to skip DLR in 2010 in favor of WDW but may have to get my kids (and me ;)) out next year to see EO plus the WoC show at DCA. :scratchin

2 things I'm wondering once Captain EO returns. Just thinking out loud, I don't know if there are even answers for these questions.

How long will Captain EO stay?

Does anyone think HISTA will come back after Captain EO leaves, or will they replace it with an entirely new attraction?

I was telling DH about this announcement last night and his exact words were, "What's Captain EO?" :faint:

I feel like I have been married to a stranger for 11 years...:lmao:

I'm with the PP, no idea who Captain EO is, lol.
I do vaguely remember there being a Michael Jackson thing there as a little kid but I'm not sure I ever even went since I don't remember WHAT it was, lol. I seem to remember it being something like Star Tours??????

Captain EO is a 3D movie featuring Michael Jackson that used to play in the theater where Honey I Shrunk the Audience plays now.

It played for many years and crowds drew thin so it was replaced with HISTA which today is dated and has rather thin crowds.

I hope it doesn't open the same weekend I'm going (the 9th). I was hoping for lower crowds!!!

It seems like this is always the case with stationary "movie type" rides, doesn't it? Soarin stays popular and Star Tours is holding up after 20 some years because there is audience motion with the movie.

But EO and HISTA have limited appeal over time. Circle Vision was kind of the same - reduced interest after which it got turned into Rocket Rods and later Buzz LY.

Oh man, why in Jan? Our APs expire then..the girls have until Feb but DBF and mine expire in Jan. :( Early Jan...in fact so early I was considering a trip over New Year's....LOL

Hmmmmm....a certain someone who is very close to me (ok, it is me ;)) has a birthday in January and just might have to venture back to DL this year for another birthday trip...

Thanks for posting this!

Good to know that it'll be back in January rather than in October...gives me more time to plan. (And something to look forward to after my December trip!)

That's what I want to know too. This sounds like a good time to get rid of HISTA after EO is done. I hope they are thinking ahead!

Me too!!! :thumbsup2 I would love to see something new there!

Me Three! My 10 yo son loves HISTA and drags us to it every trip!:sad2: My dh and I have agreed to take turns watching it with him so we BOTH don't have to torture ourselves. :lmao: When it is my turn I usually use the time for a short little cat nap! :rotfl2:

As soon as I heard that Captain EO was coming back for January, I knew I had to go out for my birthday. I will be there the 29th and 30th. I can't wait to see it.

Also, I have heard the rumor that when Eo's run is done, they will put in something new.
