Twenty-four years ago, Michael Jackson teamed up with Disney, producer George Lucas and director Francis Ford Coppola to create Captain EO starring Michael Jackson, a groundbreaking 17-minute 3D film experience.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the special Member screening of this classic musical spectacular, in the Imagination pavilion at Epcot® on June 29, 2010

Got an Email from my guide and now we will be able to attend this event. I'm really excited. We saw this show in DL back in the day and was sad when I saw it wasn't opening before we leave. Now we can go. Whoo Hoo I love my DVC. :cool1:

When is it open to the public? I'm looking forward to seeing it at Epcot just for the nostalgia factor since I remember seeing it on our first WDW visit in 1987.

I hope they keep it running until our December trip. I'd like to see it again.

I think I read July 2nd it opens, not sure of the closing date.

So it's replacing Honey I shrunk the Audience? Sorry....I didn't like EO in the first place, and I was glad to see it leave before. Sorry to see HISTA go now.

I'm pretty sure it's a temporary run of EO.

I didn't realize it wasn't back up yet - I thought it was coinciding with Nightastic. Given that it doesn't open until July 2nd, I am going to assume it will run longer than Nightastic. Or at least I hope it does because my next trip ends on June 28th and my trip after that doesn't begin until August 27th. :)

I always thought EO was much better than HISTA. It is replacing HISTA. Its official public opening date is July 2, but if they are having that event June 29, it may actually open to public before July 2. There is no designated end date (in other words, it will likely run until they decide it needs to be replaced)

I didn't like it back when it was at WDW, but I've since seen the Youtube version and now I don't think it's as bad as I did then. I'm looking forward to seeing it once. We'll be at WDW July 1-5, so we will get a chance.

I want to be invited to the special member (I'm a member of course) screeening and I'll be there on the 29th! Do you think there's anyway I could get an invite??? *** nevermind I got an email I just didn't scroll all the way down to see the invite!***

It's definitely been drawing crowds at DL. It just opened up in DL Paris and will soon be at Tokyo DL too, if it isn't already. I liked it back then, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again in September when I'm at WDW again. Personally I've never liked HISTA, so I'm not sad that that's gone now. I believe that HISTA has definitely run it's course like EO did originally when it was removed. Hopefully whenever this nostalgic run of EO ends, they'll put something NEW in, vs. just bringing back HISTA. I can hope... :)

it may just be me but my favorite part of hista , was the
pre show....the lil'boy looking for his lost doggie, :thumbsup2

woof, me up! :dog: ,

[ anybody recalls his name?...was it something like barky? ]

Saw EO at DL a few weeks ago. I didn't like it much. The floor shaking effect was too often and actually almost made me queasy.

I saw EO last month in DL and I loved it!!! I hope it's still at Epcot in September and December, so I can see it again with my family and friends.

Saw it at DL in April.....I have always liked it and it was great to see it again.

I remember Captain EO from the mid 80's (I'm dating myself a bit), a change or stepping back in time once in a while doesn't hurt! HISTA is fine but it's a little long in the tooth!

I saw it in DL last week. Nice to see it again and I'd say I'm good for another 20 years. popcorn::

Captain EO was before my WDW time (when I first started vacationing to WDW in 1998, HISTA was already in Epcot), so I'm looking forward to seeing this for the first time. August can't get here soon enough!

Ditto on not liking EO. Although back when it was first playing in EPCOT I did like MJ's music (not much anymore), the muppet-like characters were poorly done, the 3D effects were less than good and the music far too loud for my taste (and I was a teen). I did try watching it on youtube 2 nights back and about 1/2 way though vividly recalled the "Get me out of here!" feeling I had when watching it in EPCOT in the first place. :rotfl: It's one to skip for us.

I had high hopes that Disney would partner up with their film teams to come up with something new and amazing that would also enhance the Imagination theme of the pavilion.
