Is anyone else bugged by the fact that the CS at the Poly is the worst food ever??? We were so disappointed last year at how bad the food was, one night totally inedible pirate: . We just like to use the resort CS for breakfast or snacks by the pool or something to eat in our room but there was nothing good about Captain Cooks. The Mara was so awesome and the Pepper Market and even the value food courts sound so good, What gives?? :confused3

I would have to agree with you that Captain Cooks in the worst CS in all of DIsney (I say that even though Ive never stayed at a value resort)... the place is tiny .. the offerings are extremely limited, and what is there is pretty greasy.

Big FYI though, apparently they are totally refurbing CCooks sometime in the next 12 months.. making it bigger and expanding the menu .. people have spoke and they have listened ...

I think its o.k.- when we've stayed there we haven't eaten food their- we mostly refill our mugs or buy snacks like mickey rice krispie treats. The food we have had- like chicken strips were fine- I mean chicken strips are chicken strips no matter where you buy them at WDW IMHO.

Captain Cook's has always been really clean, too. I hate when there is soda and ice all over the place where you can refill your mugs and Captian Cooks is always spotless.

I would the in my opinion the worst resort cs for me is the Food and Fun Center at CR- the couple times I've been there it took forever to get our food and the place was dirty and super LOUD b/c its right next to the arcade. Like eating at chuck e cheese or something.

The BEST CS at a deluxe is definitly the Mara at AKL- always very clean, quick service, GOOD food and a good variety of stuff that you can't get at any other resort.

My family had lunch there in November and enjoyed the meal. Just burgers and fries, but they enjoyed it.

Fixins bar was nice too!!

Thanks for the good news DIZWACKO---probably won't be done by our May trip but maybe by our 2007 trip!! Obviously it doesn't bother me enough to stay at a different resort, just felt like complaining. Its just a little stressful to PLAN every meal and it would be nice to just be able to have a back up at the resort but that is just not possible with CC. My DH and I are really cranky when we get bad food!! Fortunately the great food at WDW way out numbers the bad!!!

What bothers me is that each cs restaurant is so much alike. Burgers, chicken strips, etc. The Philly Cheesesteaks that were so wonderful at the GF are gone. The best cs to me now (as far as resorts) are the Coronado and Pop food courts, Riverside is decent as well. And I like the pizza at the Boardwalk/spoodles.

Oh, I agree. Captain Cook's is awful. The burgers are like school cafeteria burgers. Yuck! The Mara has, by far, the best burgers on property in my opinion.

Of course, Captain Cook's is pretty good for early-morning coffee and light breakfast and late-night snacks and Itzakadoozies!!

I don't think that Captain Cook's is great but it wasn't awful either. I'm not a big fan of any of the burgers at WDW. They certainly are typical pressed patties made for fast food. The only complaint that I really had about it was that the service was so slow!

Just returned and we were fine with the selections and the service at Captain Cook's. No complaints from any of our party and my mom is a vegetarian and she was happy. I wish the deluxes had food courts more like the moderates. POR has outstanding food court but the deluxe ones seem short changed by comparison.

The deluxe resorts all have pretty bad counter service, IMO, with the exception of Mara in AKL (which has varied and unusual selections). I actually had a really good bbq sandwich at Captain Cooks once, but it's not a place I'd eat at a lot if I could choose to go somewhere else!

we had several basic meals there in nov-burgers, dogs & fries. food was ok. did not try breakfast there. :wizard:

Captain Cook's certainly isn't the GREATEST, but it's not that bad. I just felt that the wait for hot foods was LONG. I am hoping with the refurbishment that BIG changes will be had all around! Can't wait to stay at the Polynesian again!
