Capt. Jack's Wenches (&swabbies) lose the weight for 8/08 Getting our Magic back!

Hi everyone,
Well I started this thread almost a year ago, do you think I have lost any weight, uh no.:guilty: In fact I gained some during the holidays. But...last week it was back to getting that magic back. I am on the large side so I figured I can lose 40-50 lbs by cruise time. Last week I lost 2, and DH is also working toward slimming down so that is helping. It's back to curves this week, and I am going to start walking during lunch. Keeping my fingers crossed, and my mouth closed.;)

 Have you thought about going to a meal assembly place? I always find a locally-owned one so I can't recommend a particular chain, but two are Let's Dish and Super Suppers. I've been going to one for about a year now & I love it. You spend about 2 hours putting meals together in foil trays and freezer bags (it's fun!), then you thaw them out and follow the cooking instructions. You can usually get dinner on the table in 30 minutes or so. It is great now that DH gets home before I do - he can start cooking. The meals from my place range from about 4-8 Weight Watcher points for the entree (very roughly 200-400 calories), so it is WAY better than fast food or even store bought convienance food.

I had looked into the meal assembly place but most meals no one but me wil eat.. oh and Geoff most of the time but DH and Eric live on a very limited menu of burgers, pasta, pizza, with some turkey and chicken but no fish ever.. once when DH and I were dating I invited him over from dinner and made salmon. He didn't eat it then either and hid what he could to be polite but every time I invited him after that he asked what i was making and reminder me that he doesn't eat fish or most other things..

so a long answer but the meal assembly doesn't work for us..

Well I really have weekends as my downfall

Worked out 3 times last week.. and yesterday and today - so that is okay

did watch what I ate everday but yesterday.. but I travel most of this week, so I'll see how I can do on the road and taking clients to eat..

OK, I'm back. I wish I could say I worked out on the trip, but notsomuch.
Unless you count walking 10-12 hours a day and skipping up Main Street!

Outside of a Mickey ice cream sandwich, I didn't snack much. Although, I did eat my weight in cheesy potato bacon casserole at Chef Mickey's!

I think I managed to get through with only gaining about 1/2 lb., so yay me!

That 1/2 lb was probably water retention from the salty food:confused3
You did good:thumbsup2
And yes walking 10-12 hours a day and skipping counts;)

So how is everyone doing?

30 minutes to go - I'm going to make my exercise goal this month! :cheer2:

I related news, I hurt my something-or-other last night. Ya know the area on the back of your foot/low ankle next to the achilles tendon? Yeah, that part. I planted wrong at hip-hop aerobics last night. I think I hipped when I should have hopped.

Oh, and they've started...I got 2 swimsuit catalogs yesterday... :scared:

Oh shoot! I knew there was something I was missing :headache:

This year isn't starting off great for the exercise, but I am starting to see a loss on the scale (too much work is equaling hands not free enough to stuff food in my face at all hours).

I hope you get your hop back

Goals? We don't need no stinkin' goals...:rolleyes1

After pushing my limits a little much last week. (ie too many kick box classes and then taking one of those back to back with a weights class) My goal is just to be able to walk each day with less pain. My left knee took a beating on something. (which is weird because it was my right one that was always an issue in the past.)

However, the good news (knock on wood) is that my wrist issue seems to have resolved with a cortisone shot. (hmm wonder if i'll have to keep getting those to keep wrist from getting inflamed.)

Oh, and they've started...I got 2 swimsuit catalogs yesterday... :scared:

Tell me about it.... I went into Target last week to just LOOK at swimsuits and panicked and bought something when i noticed that in many styles only the small and extra small was left. :sad2: At least i have something as an incentive to lose some more (yes i did by it a little snug)

I did purge a whole bunch of stuff from my closet from the past. The bad news is that much of it is nearly new and i paid a decent amount for a couple items. So now it is in a big heap in our spare room. I'm feeling overwhelmed by the pile at the moment and Realizing that i don't have much left to wear.....

I'm glad your wrist is better.

I know what you mean about the pile of clothes. I haven't lost nearly as much as you and I always have a pile of stuff that doesn't fit! I have about 3 phases of clothes that cover 6 sizes. My motivation is that my cruise clothes are my skinny clothes! I want to be at my goal by April so I can shop formal sales and buy some new sundresses.

BTW, I used to hate it when people called my skinny - now I just wish soemone would!

Did you guys all quit on me??????

I saw this in another thread & I wanted to share it with you...with a minor adjustment!

If I lose just 1 pound weekly starting today, Feb. 6th, I will be:

By Valentine's Day, 1 pound lighter

By St. Patrick's Day, 5 pounds lighter

By Easter, 6 pounds lighter

By Mother's Day, 13 pounds lighter

By Father's Day, 18 pounds lighter

By Independence Day, 20 pounds lighter

By TOAL, 26 pounds lighter

By Labor Day, 28 pounds lighter

By Halloween, 37 pounds lighter

By Thanksgiving, 41 pounds lighter

By Christmas, 45 pounds lighter

By New Year's Eve, 46 pounds lighter!!!

I am really struggling.

Last week I got hit with another wave of motivation. Prepared my weekly menu, went shopping, had a good breakfast, then blew the rest of the day. Started over again. Made it through breakfast and lunch, then blew it. I can't seem to get control over my eating.

And exercise......forget about it. I haven't gotten off my butt in ages. Even though I have an exercise bike in front of the TV. It's become a coat rack.

I've tried all my old motivation tricks and nothing seems to help. I'm going to try again, daily. Hopefully I'll be able to get my discipline back.

I can't quit you.... (quote courtesy of Brokeback Mtn)

That's a little creepy...

So you want to weigh negative then...:rotfl:

Hmm so what your really saying is that i need to lose 2 lbs per week then...:rolleyes1

Well, not me personally! I just thought that was good.
And I certainly wouldn't be negative, but perhaps unhealthy if I lost 28 lbs. by TOAL.

I am really struggling.

What can we do to help, Monica? That's why we're here!

Do you need someone to yell at you? Do you need someone to be accountable to? Do you need encouragement? Do you need a fireman?

Can you come sew my mouth shut and strap me to the treadmill?

I'm not really sure what I need. Didn't snack yesterday but didn't make good choices at my meals.

Today's another day. Good breakfast so far. So we'll see what happens next.

I just had to post to bump it up.
Thanks Monica for the link! I will be posting on here more frequently. I have not been doing so good. I have reached a plateau or something and have been at a complete standstill for the last 2 weeks....very frustrating since time is a'tickin'.

(Of course, I have not been avoiding EVERYTHING that I should, hehehe.)
I liked that timeline of pounds that could be lost though. I am hoping to achieve that, but we will see!

I'm still having a hard time getting on track. I'm not having much success getting my eating under control, so I'm going to switch gears. Since I'm not exercising either, I'm going to start there. I'm going to try to get more active starting tomorrow. I will go out for a walk in the afternoon and get on the stationary bike in the evening.

At least that's the plan as of tonight.

Didn't do any exercise yesterday. It rained so that killed my walk and I came up with some other lame excuse for not doing anything else.

BUT

Just got done with 35 minutes on the bike. Now lets see if I can repeat tomorrow. I'd also like to get some toning in, but at this point I'm taking baby steps.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
YAY! Monica!

You did way more than I did today.
