Capris/Shorts

I would still bring a pair or two, but depending on the forecast, I'd bring more pants than you might think you need. We were there the week before Thanksgiving and while some days got up into the 70s, most of the mornings and the evenings were in the high 50s and low 60s, and some days even colder than that. We found pants with a t-shirt and a jacket/hoodie over it worked best and when it did warm up (late in the afternoon only for a few hours), we just tied our jackets around our waists.

This weekend it's supposed to be in the upper 70s/day and low 60s/night. Shorts weather!

We're from the north and still found low 60s at night to be cool, especially since you're not in the sun. I guess it all depends on the person, but I would be in jeans and t-shirt, possibly capris and t-shirt with low 70s as a high.

I always bring a bit of everything for December. A couple pair of jeans, a pair of capris and a couple pair of shorts plus long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts, sweatshirt, warm jacket, gloves, hat and undergarments. I also grab my sandals and and extra pair of tennis shoes.

This year I was thankful I had 2 pair of shorts and the sandals because during the day it was shorts weather. The evenings got chillier so I then changed into jeans.

The same week in Dec. 2010 - it was freezing and I needed every bit of cold weather gear that I brought with me. I never wore the 2 pair of shorts or sandals I brought at all. Layering was key that trip for sure!

You will never need long underware here. Even during that horrible cold snap a couple of years ago, I did not need long underware! I did wear my long wool coat, jeans, sweaters and Uggs - but it has never been like my home state of Illinois. (From Chicago originally, I know lake effect and cold!)

You will need a jacket, jeans, sweaters, maybe capris. I wouldn't bring shorts, but then I don't like them on me. If I was a guy, I would bring cargos. As always, check forcastbefore you go. Rember that our 70 degrees is not a northern state 70 degrees! ;) Also, indoor places - resturants - tend to be chilly.

We live at 8500 feet in the mountains of Colorado. That being said, it was 60 here last week and we have no humidity. Just trying to be prepared for all occasions without overpacking.

Well, it might be the humidity that makes you cold. Or maybe you won't get cold. Having things is better than not having them IMO.

There's something about being outside for 12 hours with chilly wind blowing over countless bodies of water that can chill people to the bone.

At home, absolutely. At Disneyland I would get cold in the evening and would need a sweatshirt. At wdw I might feel good and might not.

I'm glad you didn't need long underwear. They would have been wonderful for me and I really did need them. Jeans do NOT keep me warm. Never have. Denim is cold on my skin. A layer under the jeans is fabulous.

I don't have a long wool coat. I don't have uggs. December 2010 was a 2 week trip and the first week didn't show it getting that cold when we left and I didn't have a sweater.

For me it's an underlayer that keeps me warm from inside out while not bulking me up and making me uncomfortable.

I've never been to Orlando at Xmas, but have been the first week of January many times. The weather is just all over the map. Some days it will be mid-80s, some days mid-60s. Evenings are usually cool, days usually warm enough for shorts (to a Northerner like myself). But anything can happen!

We are leaving Friday for a 2 week trip and my suitcase is quite packed lol. I have shorts, dresses, short tights plus long fleece lined tights, jeans, like tops, hoodies and light sweaters. I am prepared for all weather. I picked light outfits that could easily have a sweater added if it cools down. We have been in Feb and Dec before and know how unpredictable the Florida weather can be. We are from the Canada in New Brunswick.

Ok: Being from both climates (Orlando and Chicago, but Chicago first), I always ask this to my mom when I travel up north.

It's tough to explain. Since we are a warmer climate down here, 70's/60's can seem chilly to us Floridians. Something like that can actually kill our oranges and plants.

On the same side, a 60s/50s up north can make me freeze while my mom thinks it's warm (yes, it's warmer considering it might have been below zero the day before. Whatever.)

Last year, I kept telling my sister-in-law that it was bitterly cold here - it was only 70. Considering it was 10 degrees up there, she told me to shove off!

So do consider that. When you see the forecast for 70 or 65, that can be chilly to us. Or nice and warm for you! It all depends on where you are from. But I pretty much left all my cudle-duds underwear up north. If you do consider underwear, they are the way to go! They saved me in Chicago, especially during days when I had to wait for the EL in the dead of winter.

Two shoe stories for ya:
I traveled to Chicago, and since I really don't wear closed toed shoes or own many socks anymore, I brought sandals and a pair of open toed shoes because mom told me it was around 70/80. HAHA!!!!:rotfl: My feet were SO COLD (got up to 80, mind you), that I HAD to buy new shoes!

And Uggs are really nice. They can be spency, but I love mine. They go great with leggings and a thin pair of ankle socks. SO toasty.

That will be me this morning in Chicago, waiting for the EL to get to work, long underwear and all. But tomorrow after work, we begin our drive to Disney. I won't be bringing long underwear, but I am bringing a mixture of clothes than can be layered if necessary.

I am sitting in my living room with a space heater blowing on me and I wish I had some thermal underwear right now. It is 59 degrees. Booo.

P.S. It is not spelled underware.

Leaving for MK in about an hour and wearing capri's short sleeve shirt and a hoodie. DH will wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt no jacket. We are from Chicago and are loving this beautiful weather. We have been wearing shorts and having a little time in either the hot tubs or pool in the afternoon.

As soon as the sun goes down in the evening it's jeans and a heavier jacket tho for sure.

Have a great trip!!

Forecast at this time is for days in the 70s and evenings in the 50s. Possible rain on Sunday 12/21 and Monday 12/22. Xmas Eve & day hovering low in the high 40s.

New years eve is looking at the temps to drop 10 degrees on both ends.

As usual the forecast could change tomorrow.

Do you think there is any point in packing these for our Christmas trip? Or is it really just a jeans and sweatshirts time of year? I'd like to think it will warm there... :goodvibes

We start driving from Chicago tomorrow. My BFF lives in Windermere and says it will be in the upper 70's Saturday and Sunday. I packed two pairs of capris!

Ooh! Good to hear from our fellow Chicagoans!

Sorry about misspelling - it's been a long cold night here - in the Florida 70's!

Underwear. Corrected.:rotfl:
