Do you think there is any point in packing these for our Christmas trip? Or is it really just a jeans and sweatshirts time of year? I'd like to think it will warm there... :goodvibes

Where are you from? What are you used to?

The beginning of our first/only December trip was nicely warm. Then it got cold. And colder. And colder still.

Last January it was decent, then cold, then the day we took the boat from SSR to DTD it was 21 with wind chill factored in. It was so so cold.

We haven't learned and we're having a re-do of January next month. We have learned a little bit and I plan to buy some longjohns for both top and bottom for me and DS, bring some good warm socks, decent coats, knit caps and gloves. DH will bring layers as well. We are ALSO bringing shorts and t-shirts and bathing suits and flipflops.

Flexibility is key!

We live at 8500 feet in the mountains of Colorado. That being said, it was 60 here last week and we have no humidity. Just trying to be prepared for all occasions without overpacking.

I'm from the north. We are bringing capris/shorts. The forecast is showing 70's - warm enough for me! We will be in the pool! I'm also bringing jeans/sweatshirts and a medium jacket for cooler nights. If it's in the 20's, I'm staying in the hotel room.

You really need to look at the forecast the day before you leave. The record high for December 25 is 79 degrees.

I was there the first week of December. I packed jeans and Christmas sweaters. I ended up buying t shirts and missing my capris terribly.

My family lives here (near the coast) and we are still wearing shorts. It may be coupled with long sleeved shirts. I just checked the forecast and I would, at a minimum, pack a pair or two of shorts/capris.

Bring the capris and shorts, at least one pair, just in case. I'm a firm believer in "it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."

We're going last week of January and I'm packing one pair of capris for sure.

Bring a windbreaker or light jacket. The wind off the lakes lowers the temps. Think layers.
One xmas it started out in the 70s we were wearing shorts. It rained and the temps dropped to the 20s. All within 24 hours. Sorry Fla weather is not the same every year, but you can guarantee it will be windy on the lake.
We had plenty of layers and it saved us.

For our trip in February I am bringing things I can layer if necessary. I will likely bring a couple of pairs of shorts, some pants/jeans (likely wearing a pair b/c it will be cold here at home), some long sleeves, some T's. A sweater and a windbreaker. Luckily, we can fill up to 6 suitcases, so we'll have plenty of room for the variety of stuff I plan to bring.

Last year we were there for Christmas and it was a tad chilly inthemorning s and evenings, but during the day it was beautiful. I wore Capri pants the whole time. The kids were in shorts mostly. The key is to pack a little of both. It could be cold and it could be warm. Good Luck!

Yep we were there too......very warm, but it changed the next week. Before we left we got rain and cold. I was them wearing 2 coats and gloves.
Go prepared for anything.

We leave on Friday and I've packed 3 pairs of shorts and 3 pairs of pants for everyone, short sleeve t-shirts, 2 fleece jackets for layering and we plan to bring scarves and gloves. Fortunately we're staying in a condo with a washer & dryer so we can do laundry as needed. We were there last month for Thanksgiving and generally wore shorts during the day and pants and jackets at night. Have a great trip! :santa:

Zip-off pants that convert to shorts can cover a wide variety of conditions without a trip back to the hotel for a wardrobe change.

Especially handy if they have a pocket to store the legs.

Annoyingly, you have to bring it all. I have been wearing leggings under a dress and sweater with a fall coat in the mornings, removing layers as needed. But there is definitely pool warmth in the afternoons.

Other than space in a suitcase I can't think of a reason not to pack them. if space was the reason I chose not to, I wold eliminate something else to make sure I had proper attire for the average weather during my trip, which certainly can include everything from jackets to bathing suits.

Pack a little bit of everything, planning for temperatures between 30 and 90. We have been several times in December and the weather changes fast and the forecasts are not very accurate. We've been in shorts day and night, and coats, sweaters, and gloves day and night- in the same trip! Our first December trip, the forcast from several sources the night before we went said that the high temperatures would be between 70 and 73 every day for our week. I brought jeans and skipped the capris and shorts. Boy was I sorry. The day after we got there, they had an unexpected heat wave and the temperatures were between 80 and 90 the rest of our trip with a couple of days of record highs! On another trip, it was supposed to be high 60s and low 70s all week, and the end of the week the highs turned out to be in the low 50s (but I was prepared that year). Now I come prepared for anything!
