We need a place to eat prior to our scheduled P&PP. We'll be at DDT for our 2 girls to do BBB. We had thought about Fulton's Crab House, but we've been there before.

Anyone eaten at Cap'n Jack's??? How's the atmosphere, food, etc.??
Thanks!!:goodvibes

I didnt enjoy Cap-n-Jacks at all in fact it was probably our worst WDW meal we have had. The service wasnt very good either.

It's funny how wildly different the opinions are at this place! We ate there last year for FD, and we LOVED it. The crab cakes were the best I have ever had. The lobster tails were smallish but sweet and tender. The choc cake dessert was very good. We had a drink called the Fuzzy Captain that was just delicious. Service was good. Atmosphere plain.

Truly a hard place to judge from reviews. There are a lot of extreme opinions given. The last time we ate there was Dec. 2006. We were on the dining plan for the first time and this was our first meal. The service was fair at best but the meal (lobster of course) was pretty good. We are going back in July with my sisters family - again on the DDP. I don't think I would eat there if not on the plan.

DH & I ate there for the 1st time this past January for lunch.
As with most restaurants anywhere, it will depend on time of day.

We had a leisurely lunch, our waitperson was excellent (Carol).
I will say she was very efficient and cheerful!

Atmoshere: so-so. The food was so-so. Not awful by any means, simply non descript.
Extensive use of warming lamps?

Would we go again? No.
We hadn't eaten all day, we got off the boat (from POFQ) & it was the only place, CS including, where the wait (maybe 5 minutes) was reasonable, that is, under one hour.

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that Cap'n Jacks has, in the opinion of myself and my husband, the worst food in "the world". We were actually so disgusted by the quality that we stopped eating after a few bites. In truth, I am surprised that this restaurant is open.
If what you need is a sit down restaurant, I would advise Wolfgang Pucks. However, if you are just looking for someplace casual, I would steer you towards Earl of Sandwich...they are busy, but the sandwiches are FABULOUS!

In short I've been there and see no reason that I wouldn't suggest it to you, except for maybe the menu does not have a huge amount of choices.

Ok.. now the rant....
From a personal perspective I have noticed that the locations that are in Downtown Disney (except Fultons)all get very mixed reviews, mostly on the negative side. Maybe it is because they just lack a certain something that the others have "The Disney Magic"?
We just love Disney!!! We have never really had a negative experience with a CM anywhere that is worth noting. So I believe that it is possible that we sometimes go in the other places with the same high expectations of that Disney Magic and when it doesn't live up to it, the whole experience seems bad.
In reality I think that all the DTD locations are decent places to eat, so when we decide to goto one them we realize that we have chosen it over all the Disney around us. I mean if these places were half as bad as some of the reviews I've seen, then I have no idea how they would continue to stay in business.
I am by no means saying that they are all great places but there isn't one I wouldn't eat at. I hardly ever see good things said about Planet Hollywood... but have never had a bad experience there, in fact they have always been pretty good!

Not a single good thing to say about this place.

Uninspired "theme", OK service, and downright inedible food.

The oh-so-highly touted lobster could be used to make superballs, the chicken on the penne alfredo was dry and gross, and the spinach dip appetizer was soupy and disgusting.

Worst food in "the world", by far.

Well said.

We were just there last Saturday and it was excellant. From the appetizers to the desserts. Everything was very good. Service was good. We will be going back. We had the crabcakes, salad, spinach dip. All excellent. Entrees were shrimp alfredo (wonderful); french dip (great) and crabcake sandwich (again, very good). Desserts were chocolate cake with ice cream. Everything was very good.

We have ate there twice both food and service was excellent you just need to try it your self some like it some don't you need to be the judge you may like it or you may not we will be going back again we also liked Fultons so give it a try.:stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2:

We have eaten at Capn Jack's in the distant past and loved it. But on our last few trips we have avoided it, based on the volume of negative reviews it gets and the more limited menu.
Last trip we tried Ragland Road and we loved it. This is another option for you.

Worse meal I have ever eaten anywhere. We live in MD where we eat real crabcakes. We also don't put old bay type seasoning on lobster. Gag! The place is a dive. For better seafood might I suggest McDs. The filet there is gourmet to the rubbish at Capt Jacks! LOL!

I don't know how a restaurant can mess up lobster so badly.....but Cap'n Jacks does indeed. It is sooooooo bad, that is why there is never any wait to eat there!;)

the crabcakes are really good here - the twin lobster tails were good (although a little small) - and the chocolate cake was ok

And it still amazes me how many people go to this place to get their lobster quota they can eek out of the DDP. The only reason most go here is for that lobster. I wouldn't eat if it were free.

We have eaten there for the last 3 years in Sept and we enjoy our meal there. We don't eat lobster often so it's a treat for us, so I will say that I don't have much to compare it too. I think the crab cakes were really good.
