Argh! Capital One was supposed to take out my final car payment last week, and they never took the payment out! I was all excited thinking my car was PAID OFF, and I got a letter today thinking it was the payoff notice, but instead it was a notice saying that we owe them the final payment! The payments have been deducted automatically for over 4 years, but for some reason they did not deduct it this month. I am so annoyed, I didn't check the account to make sure (I know I should have, but after years of it being taken out on the same date, I figured it was done).
Now I gotta rearrange some other things I was planning on paying this month...I was looking forward to being able to pay some other things off, but now that's gonna have to get pushed back another month.

Sorry this happened but that's why one should never allow a company automatic withdrawal from your account. You should be sending in the payments either by check or electronic bill pay.

Uh, I have autopay for some things and I always check each month to make sure the transaction went through. I am ultimately responsible for the autopay amount so I want to make sure it was done. Why is the money from the account not available for you to pay off the car with? Did you use it before checking your account? I would say then that its your fault that you don't have money to pay off other stuff because you did not check. Can't blame Cap One. Its your responsibility to make sure the transactions go through and actually clear your account.

Most likely because the last payment isn't the same amount as the regular payments that were auto deducted. Quite often the last payment is a few dollars more or less and they cannot withdraw an amount that you have not given pre permission for.

Ok, well, as I said I KNOW I should have checked - but honestly I am home on maternity leave with a newborn and a 5 year old and have had my hands a little full and sleep deprived as if you care, but I am sure you don't. I never said the $$ was not available, I have $$ in the account, just said I was hoping to start paying off some stuff - MEANING putting more towards other payments than the minimum balance to get rid of some cc debt. Please do not ASSUME that you know my position.

People make mistakes, why must others be so nasty towards those they don't know?

Anyway, it is Sunday...taking a deep breath and letting this go now. Hope everyone has a blessed day.
