Hi! I am looking to use my Capital One card to help pay for part of my Disney trip. I was wondering... I am planning on booking the whole vacation (hotel plus tickets) through the Disney website. That gives me a grand total. There is no way to break up the hotel and the tickets. If I make my original deposit, and then make payments along the way (as I've accrued more points), does anyone know if this will show up in the "travel" category for Capital One to use my purchase eraser?
Thanks!

Not sure but I would think so since you will be making the payments to The Walt Disney World Travel Company.

Yes, I have the Venture card and have been able to apply my points towards the package price before. I did do it by phone, haven't tried it online. I'm not sure if they even knew it was a vacation package versus just a hotel stay.

Thanks! I just wanted to check and make sure I wasn't going to get screwed out of using my points to put towards the hotel, if when they lump it all together it takes it out of the "travel" category.

It definitely counts as travel. I've done it several times, the most recent in August. BTW, we just received an email the other day that they have stopped the tiered points system. Here is the gist of the email.

No more redemption tiers! 100 reward miles = $1 in travel so you’ll always receive full value for your reward miles for travel.
No more minimum redemption requirements! You can literally redeem for cents.
Introducing partial redemptions! Redeem on a portion of a transaction – for example, redeem half of an overseas flight.
Redeeming your reward miles is easy. You can deduct the cost of travel purchases you’ve already made on your card by redeeming your reward miles for an account credit.

What’s even better – you don’t need to do anything to receive these program improvements. All your other account terms will stay the same and you can still choose whether to redeem your reward miles for travel, gift cards or cash.

We hope you enjoy your improved rewards program.
