Cape May

Thanks so much! Looks like I'll have to keep checking, but this makes it soooo much easier!
Definitely do your own checking as well as these reservation finders may not be up to the minute accurate. It's a good way to gauge popularity though.

Is the breakfast at CMC bad, too? We have an ADR here in August because we are staying at BC, but will cancel and go elsewhere if needed.

I don't think the food is 'bad', just that it is served family style now, rather than having more of a selection to choose on your own. And you have to depend on the server to get you more of what you want, which can be difficult at times. And they are still charging a lot of money. So it's more of a bad 'value'.

Before, CMC dinner was a must-do because a couple family members liked the crab legs. With those being an extra charge, it is just an average meal now, with high prices.

I thought the breakfast at CMC was bad pre-covid. We like the breakfast at Ale and Compass better and, bonus, you can mobile order at that TS so you don't even need an ADR (just make sure to snag a pick-up time that works for you in the AM). You can eat in your room or utilize the tables in the A&C lounge next door to the restaurant in the AM. We did this 3 times during our stay at YC a few weeks ago - super convenient and the food was very good.

My family is just back from WDW vacation from 6/23-7/3. We ate at Cape May for dinner on June 23 and July 2. The experiences could not have been more different. On the 23rd all of the food tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. The seafood was delicious and the meats- especially the strip loin were really tasty. My older daughter is vegan and the staff went above and beyond preparing special dishes for her in addition to the portobello mushroom/pasta and tofu entrees. We received refills of whatever foods we wanted. Dinner for 4 with tip was about $210 and really well worth it. On July 2 it was a completely different story. All of the seafood and meats were overcooked and dry. I mean everything without exaggeration was dry and the corn, clams/mussels shriveled. There were only a few pieces of tofu this time in my daughter's dinner and the pasta was not as good. I thought maybe the initial bucket/tray were hanging around, but no, even the refills were bad. It was like night and day as far as quality. I felt the service was good both visits but I won't be returning to Cape May our next trip. I don't want to roll the dice on an expensive dinner, especially when there are other options. Hope this helps someone.

It helped me decide to cancel our reservation when we're there next week. I'm sorry your second experience was so poor, especially for how much they are still charging.

Sadly, I think the pre-fixe or AYCTE by server will be here to stay. Disney can limit portions, saving a few pennies at a time and cut down on waste. Chapek and D'Amaro are in over their heads and trying to appease the shareholders any way they can. In fairness, Disney is having the same issues as other employers...They can't compete with government payouts and get people to work.

Cape May Café was my all-time WDW favorite dining venue. I tried to go at least once each visit no matter where I was staying and I introduced many friends to it and they loved it. Sadly, I shall not dine there again unless mgmt decides to change the menu and the service.

I have a reservation at Cape May for our trip in two weeks (our first time returning to Disney since the start of the pandemic). I had been holding out hope that Cape May would reopen in time, and I snagged a reservation as soon as it did. But wow, seeing the new menu and reading reviews on here really has me second-guessing. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who has been there since it reopened. Thumbs up or thumbs down? Should I cancel?

I absolutely would not do dinner, it would be $210 for my family. 100% not worth it, pre-covid, yes for sure! That is 4 quick serve meals for us.

The breakfast seems like it might be ok, I will give that a try.

For any who have been in the "before times" and again recently ... is the seafood smell still prevalent throughout the hallways at dinner?

Well, I’m glad I found this thread lol. I had about 4 reservations at Cape May Cafe in the morning throughout our 2 week trip (staying at BCV so it made sense for planning - location wise). We ate here for dinner mannyyy years back and can’t remember the experience. But now seeing all of this, just rebooked for Ale and Compass for those 4 mornings.

I usually can’t eat at buffet’s anyway due to my allergy, and family style never bothered me if it was done right. But this just doesn’t sound worth my time and money.

My family really liked A&C breakfast.

My family had a wonderful breakfast experience at Cape May on June 10th. The food was hot and served family style. Extra pastries were brought to us upon request. Our CM was excellent although she admitted her "home" was Artist's Point and missed her "home". But, she sounded grateful to be back working and gave us excellent service.

If you are used to the Cape May buffet and AYCTE, you may want to reconsider. We ate at Cape May about 2 weeks ago and they gave us so little food. We could ask for more, but it was virtually impossible to find our server and, when they finally brought us extras, they literally brought us four small slices of beef. The food was not very good and we left hungry. We won't be back.
Oh noooo that sounds awful

We did breakfast shortly after it reopened. With an under-2, we love the AYCE family style as he eats for "free" and I don't have to deal with a toddler at a buffet. Chef Mickey's pre-characters was our FAVORITE so I was excited for Cape May coming back at a similar pricepoint.

Unfortunately, it was a dud. Service was incredibly slow; took 25 minutes after being seated to get any food on the table and it was only the pastries. Drinks took longer. Refills were hard to flag down and, of course, slow. Food was lukewarm/cold (maybe because it sat waiting on a staff person to bring it over?).

I might try it again; it's relatively inexpensive and we could have hit it on an off-day. Ale & Compass has had consistently terrible service, too, but the food is never cold.

I was at cape may for breakfast, it was ok just ok, family style

we ask dor more sausage and bacon before the server ledt the table 10 minutes later she came back with 6 pieces of bacon and 4 sausage for a party of 6.

we ask for more of both before she left again, and grab a second waited about 5 minutes later to do the same…

they seem to be really understaffed.
i think there were more servers when it was a buffet.

Since they are saving money being understaffed, maybe they should consider less strict portion control.
