Cape May vs. Chef Mickey's

Any commentary on Cape May vs. Chef Mickey's for character breakfast? Kids are 7, 11, 15, 18.

We had breakfast at Cape May & loved it. The food was very good, nice selection, & the character interaction was wonderful. Can't help with Chef Mickey's, we have only had dinner there & it was to chaotic(sp)for me.

Any commentary on Cape May vs. Chef Mickey's for character breakfast? Kids are 7, 11, 15, 18.

Chaotic comes to mind when I recall having previously seen the Chef Mickey's restaurant from above while passing through on the monorail. Having the "fab five" there is probably a draw, but we might be more inclined to "settle" for Goofy and go with Cape May. We have had character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare on several occasions and enjoyed the relatively quiet atmosphere (Mary Poppins was elegant and the Mad Hatter was hilarious).

I really enjoyed the character breakfast at Cape May. We've never been to Chef Mickey's, but we've done several other character meals, and Cape May was by far the most relaxed, making for some great character interaction. And the food was delicious.

we did both cape may and chef mickeys in September. Both have very good food, and great character interaction, but i think Cape may tops the two slightly. The food seems fresher and its much quieter and relaxed. The kids can crayon on the table cloths too.

Thanks to all for the comments. Any more would still be appreciated. I think the crayon on the tablecloths seals the deal for us. We will probably go to Cape May. I think I might even put the Cape May dinner on the itinerary as well -- it looks pretty tasty.

This is the DH by the way. I'm the Disney planner in the family. One of my hobbies. Drives everyone crazy, including my DW, because I plan so far ahead and tweak the itinerary so much in the six months prior to each visit. They all enjoy the Disney vacations, though, and thank the obsessive-compulsive planning Dad during and after the visit. (BTW, this will be visit number six, about every other year, and it never gets old for us.)

We've done both -- for breakfast and dinner. We too, love Cape May. I hate buffets, but I'm always happy here (and at Boma). For me, Chef Mickey's is always loud and as someone else said, chaotic, the food always seems cold and the service is always only so-so. Cape May usually seems more relaxed, the food is always hot and delicious and the service has never been less than spectacular. As for character interaction -- obviously, you only get that at breakfast at Cape May -- but you definitely got more time and attention at Cape May than at Chef Mickey's.

For a great character meal with GREAT family style food, try O'hana for breakfast! We LOVED it! The food was simple, but fantastic, the service was wonderful, and Pluto and Stitch were the best I've seen (Mickey and Lilo were OK, but they're really second to the zaniness -- sp??? -- of their partners in crime). The best character breakfast I've ever had!

We have never done Cape May Cafe, but Chef Mickey's is quite loud.

Another vote for Cape May. We ate at Chef Mickey's once and like everyone else said, it was loud and crazy. We've eaten at Cape May on 2 or 3 trips and really enjoyed it. Goofy even sat down and read the paper with us!! Much more laid back and relaxing.

Just back from 2 weeks in WDW and we did character breakfasts at Cape May and Chef Mickey's. Food was good in both places but service at Cape May was just ok. Our server was not very friendly or attentive. Cape May only had three characters...Minnie, Goofy, and Dale. Chef Mickey's had Mickey, Goofy, Chip, Dale and Minnie. Character interaction was fabulous at both...several characters sat down with us and "goofed off" with the kids. Cape May was quiet and relaxed where Chef Mickey's was louder...music and napkin twirling are part of the experience.

We have done cape may the last 3 trips down to WDW, but I don't know if we will do it again unless we stay in the Beach Club or have a car with us. Getting there in the morning from the CBR or the POP was way to difficult. At least Chef Mickey's is right next to the MK.

That being said if you can get to Cape May it is always a fun time and a good meal.
