Cape May vs Chef Mickey Character Breakfast

We are in the process of organizing our character meals for our December trip to WDW and WL. We have heard many great things about the Cape May Character Breakfast. I would like to know how does it compare to Chef Mickey's Character Breakfast at the CR?

We have two children ages 11 and 13 and would like to hit the breakfast that has the better character interaction, as well as the tastier food and greater food selection. Is Cape May a breakfast buffet or is it one of those skillet meals? Thanks for any suggestions you might be able to give us!

SpeechGuy - We've done Chef Mickey's on several occasions and Cape May one time last fall. Our preference is for Chef Mickey's (me, DW, DSs 10 and 9). Cape May is a buffet similar to Chef Mickey's and the characters are slightly different (I don't think we saw Mickey at Cape May-Minnie was at the front door for photos). At Cape May, Goofy was in his "beach wear" as were Chip n Dale. At Chef Mickey's Goofy is dressed as a Chef and at the front to meet and greet.

Overall, the atmosphere is the main difference. Cape May is quieter where Chef Mickey's is more of a "party" atmosphere.

It may also be a function of what you are planning on doing that day...Chef Mickey's is obviously closer to the MK. Cape May is a short walk from the International Gateway at EPCOT.

Again, we prefer Chef Mickey's....Enjoy!

We have been to the Cape May Breakfast and it is a buffet...an awesome buffet! And the character interraction was great too.

Would like to hear more about Chef Mickey's Breakfast too though as some in our group would like to try it.

We love Cape May for Breakfast-good food, great Char interaction. and it is more relaxing then Chef Mickey's. Now I have to say that we have only done CM as dinner & we liked it also. I just like being more relaxed in the morning.

It has been a while since I have been to Chef Mickey's and that was for dinner, but we were just recently at Cape May for the breakfast. Cape May has Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Goofy. It took us (me and DH, we're just big kids who have to do a character meal with every trip!) about 35 minutes to eat and we had to wait about 40-45 min for Goofy to come around (he's my favorite, we had to wait!). We did see Minnie and Chip fairly quickly. We never did see Dale.

I honestly don't remember how long it took for the characters to come around at Chef Mickey's, but it is a more fun atmosphere. The characters do a musical number every so often. That is not the case at Cape May, it is much quieter as stated before.

I personally would go to Chef Mickey's over Cape May, but Cape May was much more convenient for us as we were staying at the BC Villas.

.....we may have to do both. We will be at WDW over a 12 day span so we might do both. Has anyone done the Cape May seafood buffet? Is the food FRESH and GOOD? I just a little leary when seafood has been sitting out on a steam table for quite awhile...but I will leave the opinions to the Disboarders!Thanks!

Their clambake dinner is pretty good. Their food selections change a bit from time to time. Whenever we've been there it's been pretty fresh but we usually go fairly early. We've ordered the crab legs which were also good.

I guess it's about a B+. For a buffet it's pretty good, definitely worth a try. We may check it out again this trip.

Love Cape May Clam Bake. It's always a must do for us. It's not gourmet or extremely fine dining, but good food and lots of variety.

But no, don't go there. That leaves more PS times for me.

We love both, but when your in Magic Kingdom for convience you can't beat Crystal Palace, with Pooh and his friends.

We will be enjoying both Chef Mickey's and Cape May for breakfast and Cape May for dinner in just one short month!! We've been to Chef Mickey's on every prior visit and DS insisted we couldn't skip it this time because it's tradition!
DH & I stayed at the BC about 3 years ago but never had the opportunity to try Cape May so this trip we're doing it all!
I'll be sure to post some reviews once we're back!

I just wanted to mention that I don't think the charactors are there for dinner at Cape May. If that makes any difference.

Have done both and much preferred Cape May's breakfast. We liked the quiter atmosphere and had better character interaction. We felt let down at Chef Mickey, I guess it just didn't live up to the hype. Our kids are 8 and 11 and weren't thrilled with Chef M. I think they knew we didn't get as good an experience as we'd had else where.

We like the more relaxed air about the Cape May. Chef Mickey's is just too noisy and hectic for us.

The food at Cape May is very good. They have the best grits at WDW... a very important thing to us Southern girls!

We liked Chef Mickey's better than Cape May. I agree Cape May has a more relaxed feel, but somehow that energy level seemed wrong to me at a character meal.

Our boys were subdued and blase at Cape May although Goofy is their favorite character. At Chef Mickey's the music and napkin twirling really got them into the mood
