We are looking for some good, fresh seafood when at Disney. I've heard such good things about Cape May. I know this is a silly question, but the menu is described as a "Clam bake". Does that mean it is mostly clams? Just wondering if they have other seafood like shrimp or crab. My DD (4) loves crab meat!!

They have clams, mussels, Peel and eat Shrimp, crab legs and a catch of the day as well as chowder

I would avoid this restaurant at all costs! One of the worst restaurants that I've eaten at in Disney.

It's not in our regular rotation of restaurants, but we really enjoyed it when we ate there. Lots of great seafood and other options.

Every restaurant in the entire world will have good reviews and bad reviews. Disney is no exception. If you think you might like something, try it and make your own opinion.

Do you mean the dinner only, or the character breakfast too? That breakfast seemed quite normal as far as Disney character breakfasts go.

It was the dinner. I'm from Jersey, where we have great seafood, and most of the stuff on the buffet I would try and then refuse to eat anymore. My mom and I actually ended up leaving and grabbing food at Beaches and Cream...it was THAT bad.

Different strokes for Different folks. We love it there and I grew up in NJ as well.We try to eat at Cape May each trip .Never had a bad experience there

We ate at Cape May for the first time last May. LOVED it. Returning this year on Valentine's Day. We've had a lot of crab legs from restaurants over the years and these were by far the best, freshest ones. They continually replenished all of the steamed seafood, and our server was amazing.

Don't buy into the negative reviews too much. Basically, if you see a restaurant that looks appealing, GO FOR IT. The reviews are subjective, people have varying opinions. Check out Allears or WDWinfo for menus.

Think about a restaurant in your hometown that you go to. Maybe there's one that you really like and you eat there often. You might have a not so great meal one time and leave a bit disappointed. But it's not enough to totally turn you off, you just think it's an off nite.

But at Disney, it's totally different. Because you go there with such high expectations and have paid a lot of money, it's soooo disappointing if it doesn't quite live up to your expectations. But it's a restaurant, just like any others, and won't be 100% perfect all the time. That's the attitude we try to take.

And that is my soapbox on restaurant reviews for the day! :)

I am from South Jersey and grew up at the Jersey Shore where we caught most of our own seafood! That being said - we LOVE the Cape May Cafe. The food is great and we always have great service. We often go there twice during our stay - it's THAT good. They have a LOT of good food - not just the seafood. Enjoy!

Well said!! I think we are going to give it a try. The only seafood we have in our hometown is Red Lobster. I'm looking forward to trying it out!!

A really great meal with outstanding service!:thumbsup2

I think if you want seafood, Cape May is definitely a good place to go - particularly if you like crab legs, clams or shrimp b/c they always have these in abundance.

Cape May is our new favorite restaurant - we're still determining just how many crab legs we can eat in one sitting, more research must be done! ;)
